Will a kirby legends fan fit my kirby model 508?my model 508 only have 6 blades and is made of metal. If i can put on the newer blade it would be easier to replace if something happens. And does somebody know the actual wattage of a kirby model 508?if im correct 3 amps 110 volts will be 330 watts, but mine is 230 volts so 3 amps will be 690 watts?or does the amps also change with the voltage?im not sure how you guys feel about it but im using some of my vintage vacs once in a while?always cleaning it before storing them again.

Voltage

When you go up to the higher voltage, your wattage remains the same but your amperage will go down. So you'll still be using 330 watts just at 1.5 amps instead of 3. That's why the electric company charges by kilowatt hour. It's the same no matter what the voltage.

The formula is

Volts X Amps = Watts

and since watts is the constant based on the appliance, if either volts or amps changes, then the other variable in the formula must change as well. In the example

110 Volts X 3 Amps = 330 Watts and
220 Volts X 1.5 Amps = 330 Watts.

I think it's part of Ohm's law. If I recall correctly from my high school electronics class in the early '80s, there were about half a dozen formulas covered under Ohm's law, which allow one to calculate wattage (P)ower, voltage (E), amperage (I) , and resistance (R), depending on the known values of the others. The formula to calculate wattage based on current and voltage was P=IxE. That's the only one I remember because it spells 'pie'.

Don't ask me why the letters aren't W, V, and A for watts, volts, and amps. It's probably a Latin thing or maybe a German thing. German was the language of science prior to WWI.

To answer the question of taking a fan from a Legend for your 508, no.

You can put an Amodel fan into a 508 but you need a metal spacer that is different from the one on a Legend. The spacer is thicker and longer. The Amodel fan is the same in all three kits that are available. The difference is in the pully and spacer.

The kit you would need is Kirby part #119078A for the 505 thru 515.
