Hey Guys,
I'm a recent Kirby collector and have a small problem that I can't figure out. On both my Heritage II and Legend vacuums I have replaced the original brush rolls with new ones. On both these vacuums the new replacement brushrolls make a rattling racket when I vacuum by carpets. I have tried 3 different replacements and they all do the same on both vacuums. I have tried the black colored replacements and the wooden ones and they all do the same thing. Very annoying. When I put the original brushrolls back on both machines they purr like kittens on the rug.
Any ideas? I'm stumped.
Thanks,
Jim

!

I have the same issue with my Heritage IIs. It got to the point where I just stopped using them. I agree- any insight on this issue would be great!

The ends of the brush has settings to accommodate for wear, be sure both sides of the brush are on the same setting!

Rug plate ends tabs are bent

The tabs that hold the plastic brush ends are bent causing play that makes a rattle sound you need to ben the tabs inward to stop the play and the problem should go away.

I'm going to second the last 2 posts, make sure the screw adjustments on the ends of the brush are set correctly and evenly, and also bend the tabs that hold the sides of the brush ends in a bit, over time they can bend out and not hold it as tight as it is supposed to, bend them in a bit to get a good snug fit.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
The brushroll I have was supposed to be genuine Kirby. I have made sure that the screws are adjusted equally and have bent in the tabs. Still no luck. It just rattles. I am now on a search for a genuine Kirby brushroll.
