Kirby Emtor Help

While my Dad was working on my 1987 Kirby Heritage II, he discovered that the Emtor that came with it didn't quite fit right, nor did the Mini Emtor assembly that I last used on my 1977 Classic III.

I am therefore submitting these two pictures in order to potentially get an answer as to why.

I wonder if anything might be wrong with the lug openings, as in have they been modified at one time?

Does it have the wrong O-ring in the emtor?  Wrong O-ring will cause a loose fit.

Mike,

No... but the gasket you mention on the Heritage I Emtor was cracked. I'd also been told that whoever the last owner was had probably "shoved" the gasket in.

I do know that the replacement Emtor gasket is 188087, but I have not had the same problem with this O-ring when installed in the Classic Omega and Classic III Emtors.

Since two emtors fit poorly on one vac, have you inspected the outlet of the motor case?
If that is okay, I question the gaskets on both emtors. If they are compressed or torn or not glues securely, a loose fit can result.

It's not really the Legend II Mini Emtor I'm having trouble with now, but I am going to show you this picture of the bad and good Heritage I Emtors... the good one has the bag attached to it.

The Emtor is supposed to be attached at the top of the exhaust, with the topmost lug pointing at 12 o'clock. But on the bad Emtor that came with my 1987 Heritage II, whoever operated it last apparently modified it in a way so as not to interfere with the longer rear axle.

Gasket is missing out of one, that will make the Emtor not fit snug.

Jae,

The problem with the Emtor that came with my Heritage II is not limited to the gasket. In fact, it did have a gasket intact but it was cracked from age.

ONE STEP CLOSER...

Today my Sani Emtor (with the Classic brown tray) arrived! It fits my Heritage II like a glove!

And It's (Almost) Finished!

I DID IT!

My 1987 Kirby Heritage II is now re-born! Well, 99 percent complete...

WHAT I DID SO FAR:
1. Re-assemble bag and Sani Emtor assembly. The Sani Emtor casting was taken from a Classic 1CR, but I removed the original brown tray in favor of the dark gray one from my defective Heritage I Emtor casting to better match the black trim.
2. New headlight bulb installed.

TO DO LATER: Re-install hubcaps on rear wheels; then purchase an actual black tray (185984).
