Not sure if this should have went in offtopic, if so I apologize.
Can anyone tell me, or have a link to share on what the prices for Kirby and Luxes were back in the day?

I can say with confidence that the Kirby Classic Omega sold for $339.  I sold them!

Old issues of Consumer Reports would be one good source for prices.  Someone not too long ago posted scans of the pages when the Lux 1205 and L were reviewed.   Who has a stash of old CR issues?

This probably is an "off-topic" topic.  Let's leave it to Fred to make the call.

In 1951 Kirby's were selling for $123.00. Look in the library here there are 3 issues of consumer reports. The have the prices listed for those years. Of course they were rated as the worst upright vacuums.

In 1968 when my aunt bought her tan Electrolux G it was $199 including the power nozzle.

in 1962 my grandmother bought the white Electrolux L with power nozzle and her paperwork states that she paid $149.99.
I have heard the Olympia was the $300.00. I had a customer give me her old Silverado ( in mint condition ) and on the bottom in black ink on a peice of tape was the date and price, 1986 and the price was ( with the PN 5 or 6, which ever one was the L shape) $485.00!
I paid $2499.99 for my Guardian and Floor Pro WAY BACK in the day of 2003, very stupid I know but I love it!!

Those were the days- - - - - - -

I paid $200.00 for my Kirby Classic Omega with standard attachment kit in 1974.   I then paid $240.00 in 1975 for my Electrolux Golden Jubilee.  Still have the paperwork on that one and the machine!

Keep in mind that door to door salesmen alot of the time, back in the day, charged according to what the customer would pay. I know in April or May of 1976 my Grandma paid around 450.00 for her new Electrolux Golden Jubilee with PN. and without the rug washer. The Lux salesman that sold it to her was evidently getting rid of the last of the Golden Js, as this would have been around the time the Super J came out.

Exactly....the salesman had 'tier prices' depending on how hard you fought & bargained. This was true for Kirby and LUX. A friend tried to sell Kirby's recently and that's still going on. My Diamond J was bought around '83/'84. I think she got out the door with just short of my $600 and sadly, my old Hoover upright. That included the PN, but the Sidekick hadn't come out yet...that was more $ later.
