Hi Cory I had my Dual 50 done many years ago when i got it back it was better than new looked and sounded new.It was like Christmas in July.next will be my 511 the only thing stoping me is the color code will be light brown so as it still works fine i may just shine it up. Good Luck.as i understand it will come back the right color Doug

Kirby

I'm extremelly excited as this was the first Kirby I ever laid yes on as a child. My grandmother tells me that when I was a baby and I would get fussy when she watched me, she would roll out the Kirby, place it next to my blanket and let it run for about 5 minutes. She said I would stare at it in facinatation and would eventually fall asleep from the sound. Luckily, when she let me have it, we found the owners manual with the original purchase date and dealer signature in it. I sent the machine off this past Saturday - Feb 9th. In fact, it was purchased on Feb 10th, 1968.. EXACTLY 40 years ago from yesterday and it will get a new lease on life! It needs some MAJOR help though.. they ran it for YEARS with a busted fan and chewed up cord, then it sat in a shed for about 15 years until I found it. It will look great with the rest of my Kirby collection which is rapidly growing! I will now have the following in my collection:

560
Dual Sanitronic 50
Dual Sanitronic 80
Classic I
Classic Omega (Thanks to Kyle Owen - found an original musturd colored omega bag for it too!)
Tradition
Heritage I (belonged to my other grandmother)
Legend II (On it's way - ebay purchase, completely refurbished and polished out, includes attachments!)

Now all I need is a Classic III and a Generation model and I'm set (for a while!)

do you have the original paperwork on these Kirbys that you are sending back or are they charging you full price? IF so, how much is it?

DS 80

Got the letter from Kirby today - Rebuild was only 32.50 plus 14.13 for shipping for a combined total of 46.63. I'm so excited! Letter stated I should see it within the next 5 to 10 days... WOO-HOO!!!!! They stated previously that they would charge me for extra parts and they didn't! I sent it in without the power cord and any of the trim or hardware for the bag.

Hi I just got a DS 80 from ebay that is in awful shape! I do not have the original paperwork.. How much do you think Kirby would charge me to rebuild?

Kirby Rebuilds.

Kirby charges about $350.00 for a full rebuild without the original paperwork. It's a lot cheaper than a new Kirby, but I would only pay that much if I wanted an old Kirby in rotten shape as a daily driver. The full-price rebuild is a good option for that free, or nearly so, Kirby you found in a shed, attic, or flooded basement that is just in scary condition. When I called Kirby, they said they didn't have the original color parts and trim for a DS-50. I don't know about other models.

They do a great job, for a price,
Dave
