I found this today going around to a few thrift shops, it's a little dirty but it runs very nicely! Unfortunately the original bag is gone but those are to hard to find. The brushroll is a pretty worn too. I might be offering this one up for sale or trade, i like to think I "rescued" it lol. It could look very nice with the right bag and all buffed out!

The Green Bags for the D80 are still available from Kirby Part # 190067
The brush roll is also still available from Kirby Part # 1525
If it needs a belt that's Part # 159056G for a three pack
It looks like it might be missing the lower cord hook if it is, that's Part # 173867S

The nice thing is the upper and lower cord hooks are the same.

I currently have two of them, one cost me $12 the other was given to me by a local Kirby Dealer.

Looks Good, and I see the lower cord hook is there.

By the way the headlight trim is still available if you need that it's part # 161967A for a 2 pack.

Thanks So Much, All Of You

I'm really leaning towards keeping this one after seeing how nice it looks cleaned up. It really could use a new headlight trim piece (as long as it's green) yes I love the green lol. Aside from that, it really just needs a new brushroll & green bag w/ the original rubber bag topper that says "Dual Sanitronic 80". After these things have been done and I work a bit more on buffing, it'll be good as new! I could also go for some attachments lol

Yes I've found that out about the bag topper. And as an update, I've found all the pieces I need on eBay (brushroll, headlight trim, solid plastic handle top, and original bag). I hope to get these and do some heavy buffing to get it as good as new. I'll probably take it to the local vac shop to have it serviced too just for good measure.

I don't think that this is a genuine Kirby bag, but I was planning on keeping it anyway. The brushroll is so worn that you can't even push it when it's on the proper setting lol.

It is the original one. Here's my 1977 Classic III proudly wearing it (the picture was taken by my paternal grandparents back in 1990--the vac was mine eight years later).

Meanwhile, here is also a picture of my mom's 1978 Classic III, with the updated bag cloth (and handle fork assembly).

Very nice! I hope to have the original bag and a solid plastic handle grip very soon. They are next on the list.

Since I got this, Im thinking of starting to collect all of the appliances from 'The Brave Little Toaster', that's one of my favourite kid movies lol.

New Parts Installed

Well, the New headlight trim and brushroll came the other day and I finally got around to putting them in. I had a hell of a time with the headlight trim tho lol.

Thought you might like to know that the end of the brushroll is upside down. The screw head should be showing so you can adjust the height of the brushroll while it's still in the head. It makes it a lot easier that way.

Yes, Bikerray is correct, The screw head should be showing on both ends of the brushroll so that the brush height can be adjusted without removing the brushroll first.
