Kirby DS 50 problem

I am having a problem with my Kirby dual Sanitronic 50. I just recently had it serviced for a regular clean up/lubing etc.. but notice a problem when I use the vac with the hose attached to it. Aside from roaring really loudly, the light gets extremelly bright and then burns out. I have gone through 4 light bulbs because of this and am afraid to use the attachments on it. Any ideas as to what this could be? Some sort of short? Fixable you think?

I don't know the exact wiring in the Kirby, but it would sound like it was wired incorrectly.

So, my first question is, do you know if the Kirby has had its wires messed with? I will look back at my Kirbys just to see if the light gets brighter, but the vacuum is supposed to "roar" louder because the motor increases speed. I will get back with you later with my experiments with my Kirbys. Talk to you soon!

I would have no clue about the wiring. thanks for looking! any help I can get would be appreciated. I don't use the attachments on it much, just every once ina while for a short period of time, but it still scares me.

Well, I am no professional at this but....

The roaring noise sounds like the fan is broken or even just cracked, or maybe not tightened properly. It could be that the lower speed and the belt attached holds the fan in place when you're are using the rug nozzle; but with the attachments on, that support is gone and the fan spins at a higher speed thus even the slightest crack will create an incredible roar with a Kirby.

The light may be a wiring problem; but if not, it could be that the extra vibration from the fan problem knocks out the bulb.

I would check the fan for cracks, even a single little hairline crack could do this. Otherwise take it back to whomever serviced it and have them look at it.

never would have guessed

that a fan could cause such a problem like that. I will definately take it back to the guy that serviced it. he is a very nice man and actually enjoys working on that Kirby. He ans his wife always comment on how nice of a machie it is when i take it in.
