Just got a dirt meter from Ebay for older model Kirbys and tried it on my Classic. It handles very differently with the meter in place of the bag. Much lighter, less seal to the carpet. I guess that's because there's less air flow? Anyway, I vacuum regularly but the cat hair that it's pulling up is incredible. Of course, it's spring and they're shedding. I also adjusted the new brush roll to protrude 1/8" from the rug plate as is recommended on newer models. Very surprised at the amount of crap I pulled up tonight!

Hi Jeschbac

The Kirby dirt meter is not designed for use with the Kirby other than to demo what can be picked to in a few passes. There were white cloths called test pads for this, and black ones for the mattress test. These were placed all over the room to show what the Kirby could pick up. The meter was designed to have the name KIRBY stand out.

Once the demo was over I put on the sani Em-Tor with the bag. So the dirt meter is a demo tool, nothing more.

Yes

I know all of that. Still, these things are worth noting and it does serve to show just what accumulates in 24 hours!
