Last night I was bored so I decided to sacrifice one of my Filtrete Kirby bags and use it for some stair cleaning, and couch cleaning with the dirt meter.

Since the little round discs that are designed for the dirt meter clog up right away, I thought the hepa material would allow me to clean longer to get more dirt in 1 session.

First picture is from my carpeted stairs, and second is from the couch.

Which dirt meter were you using, the original one or the G-series one? I'm going to hazard a guess at the original, the logo shape is just about showing on the 2nd pic.... :)

I have the original one, my dad gave it to me (from when he was a Kirby salesman), I have hardly used it though, I have two Baird meters (one for the Pre-Gs and one for the G series) aswell as a load of Baird cloths... :)

Ah, the G-series one, how wrong I was... :P

I keep thinking of getting one, but I hardly ever use any of my dirt meters, so, there's no rush to... :)

I got this one when I bought my Diamond Edition (which I no longer have). I've used it from time to time, mostly out of boredom. I do need to order some more white and black pads though, I'm all out of black ones and have just a few of the white left. I always get my stuff from Kent Oyler on eBay - he now has a www redirect to his store directly - www.kirbyneeds.com

I got the replacement glass (x2, one to use, one for spares) for my Dirt Meters from him, aswell as plenty of other spares too, great guy with plenty of knowledge on Kirbys... :)

I haven't bought anything lately cos US-to-UK shipping is getting beyond a joke, the USPS really do take the proverbial when it comes to their international shipping now, before it wasn't too bad, now it's just not worth it unless it's for parts I just can't get here... :S

When I was a Kirby dealer

I always used the Baird Meter over the dirt meter. Much more impressive, and the machine ran at almost full power longer than with the normal dirt meter. Talk to Bill (A007kirbyman). He has them at reasonable cost. I'm planning on buying one from him in the not too distant future.
