I recently stumbled upon a pretty neat Kirby D80, and Im a sucker for avocado green.
Its on the work bench, in the process of getting shined back up.

But I was vacuuming with the Sentria, and was wondering about converting the D80 to use disposable bags. Sewing in a zipper to the existing D80 bag wouldn't be difficult. I could use a sani-emptor from a heritage, but I would really prefer to use the existing metal one.

Do any members have any suggestions on how to convert the metal emptor to accept a fill tube?

Thanks!

I used an HII em-tor and bag and put it on when using my D50 to vacuum and the original em-tor and bag for display... not what you asked but I couldn't bring myself to alter the em-tor and bag...

I once took the Em-Tor from a Tradition I once owned and drilled screw holes into the inside flange so that it would accept the fill tube collar from from a Heritage.  That way, I could use an early G Series bag adapter and HEPA bags.

That's not exactly what you're looking for, though.  You might try to find some way to adapt the fill tube collar from the early Heritage series so that it sits on the throat of the D80 Em-Tor.

Find a blue Tradition bag system that already has the fill tube that will fit the DS 80 along with the proper hook that attaches to the handle. That way you can keep the DS 80 bag all original.

You could...

Hi. You could do what air-waycharlie did in thread 618.
