Pam, Les & Kirby trim discussion...
Hello Pam, Les & all,
Actually Les, when we spoke yesterday, I said it was the opposite of what you initially posted above in 'Reply# 1.'
"...light color called Sirocco..."
"...sanitronic 7 sparkly tan to dark tan to Sirocco..."
The model to have the dark 'metallic' L@@King (ie: sparkly) bag top cover & handle grip was the 562 (or Sanitronic). As for the rest of the trim on the 562, nozzle & headlight bumper, bag guard & EmTor tray, they are definitely darker as well; however, I don't know that I would say they are 'metallic' so much so.
I do have some NOS headlight bumpers I recently acquired, that were for use on the 562, & again they ARE darker, but I won't classify them as 'metallic' like the bag top cover or handle grip. (I'll take a closer L@@K at them possibly tomorrow, just to confirm that is the case.)
As we also discussed, the 562 had the white cord with the dark female & male ends. Also, as I had said, the S VII had the same "Sanitronic" name on the bag top cover; however, it was now lighter in color & it was NOT "metallic" in appearance like the 562 was prior.
One other trim item in common with the 562 & the S VII was the belt lifter.
I believe the "Sirocco" description or name was used on the introduction of the 562. In the 1963 Kirby Service Manual the color of trim was referred to as brown.
It is not, & was not uncommon for Kirby to actually use different names for some of the colors over the years on some of the models. There may have been more alternatives for some of the other model colors that I have not become aware of yet. ~lol~
These are some that I AM aware of:
SE II ~~~~~~~~ Warm Brown/French Gray & Teal/Turquoise
SE ~~~~~~~~~~ Autumn/Storm Gray & Warm Red
UG & DE ~~~~ Twilight/Dusk
G6 ~~~~~~~~~~ Onyx/Black & Yellow
G5 ~~~~~~~~~~ Cabernet/Burgandy
L II ~~~~~~~~~ Maroon/Mauve
Getting back to the 562, I would love to see in person, (or see photos of), other Genuine Kirby trim components that are 'metallic' L@@King, such as the EmTor tray.
As time has gone from Kirby model to model, 562, S VII, D50; & batches or orders of replacement parts, they have gotten lighter & lighter in color.
When I order larger quantities of trim, wheels, etc., they many times will vary in color. As I said yesterday, when speaking with Les, I have three (3) different shades of Genuine blue Tradition wheels.
It's much like paint matching used to be, (& may still be); when you want/need more, if you don't mix some of what you have, with what just got to complete the project, then you'll many times will see a difference on the walls (or item(s)).
Remember the old saying: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." We may all see the same thing, slightly different than another person does. I'm just glad I can still see!!! ~lol~
My apologies to you Les, for the explanation getting mixed up in our conversation.

If I may be of assistance to anyone with your Kirby wants & needs, let me know.
Cheers & hagn/d all,
Bill
