all Kirbys,
From the Dual-Sanitronic 50 are 2 speed machines, except for the rare occasion of a Super-Sweep, Sani-Sweep, American Lincoln, or ComVac commercial machine, in which there was no way to access 2nd gear, as the cleaning head was non-removable, and this attachments were both useless & unavailable.
The Heritage series had the same speed switch as Seen in reply #7, it should be capable of
Deciding slightly to trigger 1st gear speed, then depress more into 2nd gear, used only for
Attachments.
You will not be capable of running a D50 Handi-Butler on the Tradition, especially in the extremely rare
Event you have a model with the locking head-light cap (produced only for a very limited time during the first line-up of Traditions in 1979). There are ways though, however. You can unscrew the safety switch, and CAREFULLY depress it down with a zip-tie until the cleaner engages into 1st speed, and ONLY first speed,
Tying the switch down fully will engage 2nd gear, and using the Handi-Butler in second gear is a big, motor-damaging no-no.remember, second gear is ONLY for attachments!
Rigging a cleaner is even easier on a Heritage, but why not just purchase a genuine Handi-Butler for your model? Esp. If you plan on long uses of the Handi-Butler. I will be honest, I ran a Heritage I for over a year rigged with a Classic III nozzle, and rigged the Classic III to use it's own nozzle this way!
