I have a question about the nameplate used on some Kirby Classic III vacuums: on some of these, the year (1976) is missing from the copyright notice. This version of the nameplate was seen on many early Classic IIIs, including those with many serial numbers starting with the letter "A" (A187159, A335106, A565725, et al).
I know both the Classic IIIs I grew up seeing, serial #s B850414 and D663143, have the nameplate with the year on it.
I have noticed the latest Classic III to have a year-less nameplate is serial #C618466, which indicates 1977-78 production season.
But, what I don't know is why they would use an alternate version of this nameplate? I hint most of the nameplates have the year on it.
