Kirby Centennial?

Rumor has it that Kirby is going to be releasing a new model for their Centennial. Naysayers deny this and say that the Sentria II hasn't been out long enough for them to release a new model. Will Kirby release a new model for their 100th year anniversary, or will they just give the Sentria II a special edition 100 th year anniversary sticker or change the bag or something. I haven't gotten the Sentria II yet because of this rumor. I'm excited but the anticipation is killing me. Does anyone else have any thoughts or know anything about this?

I'm pretty certain that this rumoured complete redesign for the 100th anniversay has been in discussion on here since I first signed up in 2007.

Hasn't there been a patent submitted for the new model? I'm sure someone posted a diagram of it.

I don't know, but whatever they do, I hope they stick with the old formula: polished aluminum body, bag on the side, removable head and attachments, classic Kirby shampooer, etc.


I'd also like to see a comeback of the real Handi-Butler (not that glorified Dremel tool that was optional with the Sentria for a short time), and I'd like to see a shakeout bag as an option.

People have been talking of a redesign for years. All we have to suggest a new model might be released is a Scott Fetzer patent from 2010. People have also discovered an unused trademark, "Avalier", which some assume is the new name. However, no one has ever presented concrete evidence as to when it will be released, or if Kirby has even built a prototype.

That patent seems interesting,

Imagined if they came out with some new Super-Duper Filtering material for a cloth bag, and when the bag filled, it alerted the user! As simple a a pressure gauge in top of the bag, connected by wire...


 


BUT ANYWAYS, I would hate that handle design! I wouldn't care if they had such a possibility of this feature, but couldn't the light be by the foot switch?

I don't really think you need a "bag alert" on the Kirby-you will know when the bag is full.For the dump bag you should dump it after each major use anyway.The present disposable bags are Filtrete type material--that is close to HEPA performance-we presently have such performance in the Kirby.A filter for the motor vents would be nice-same idea as what Rainbow uses.Just when was the Sentria 2 introduced-trying to remember.Hasn't it been out for a couple years now?

July 2012-Thanks-just couldn't remember.Is Kirby going to wait until AFTER 2014 to introduce a new model-since the Sentria 2 is only a year old-that may be the case-even though 2014 is the 100th year.

I would hope Kirby would wait until the actual 100th anniversary. Jim Kirby wouldn't meet Mr. Scott and Mr. Fetzer until almost at the end of World War 1. And they didn't make any vacuums until 1919. The Ezee was never made by Scott and Fetzer - it was made by Frantz Premier - don't know why it's on the Scott and Fetzer timeline. Their first vacuum was the Vac U Ette in 1919.
