Kirby busy & shiny!

Well sadly, I seem to have my mother's fingers where they curl all the time and you think they're straight! Fresh cup of coffee cream and sugar all over the kitchen and dining floor, crap! The hardwood floors are no longer sealed after 65 years so I normally paste wax there once or twice a year, obviously I had to do some cleaning first which left them looking very dry and parched! Out came the Johnson paste Wax and on my knees rubbing it in. Followed by microfiber and then the carpet and floor buffing head on the Kirby to warm the wax up nicely, it really does buff things up. Before putting the machine away I thought I wonder? The Kirby was buffed up as good as it was going to get with me still some freckles, but they do deteriorate over time I'm assuming from moisture in the air or dirt? I took the wax pad which still had some Johnson paste wax on it and went all over my clean Kirby housing and nozzle, it definitely looks better! Hopefully it will keep it from aging too quickly

I don't feel the need to keep my Kirbys shining like the bumper of a '59 Cadillac but if you dust them off occasionally and store them in a relatively dry space (tough challenge here in the humid South) they'll maintain a good shine. The paste wax will also help in that it creates a barrier to significantly slow the oxidation process. Not a bad idea to do that every once in a while.

My thoughts exactly! And my pad with remnants of wax was sitting right there so I gave it a shot.

Looking heritage 2 legend. If the motor sounds and runs good it will work. You don't have to have a shiny vacuum t clean just a good one.

This is a favorite model for me, it's my third one and probably the best mechanical condition of all of them. Sounds amazing.

The machines are great. To my mind, Kirby achieved a near perfect balance between simplicity and technical sophistication on the Heritage II Legend and Legend II machines with improvements to the nozzle and an effective and efficient top fill bag system that carried over into the G series that made them both easy to use and relatively simple to service and repair. I have a Legend II that had seen some rough use before I got hold of it, as evidenced by a smashed mini emptor, and a near pristine looking Heritage II Legend that I found at Goodwill a month later for a whopping $15. The only issue was a missing cord. Not sure what the story was there but my pet theory is either the donor kept it or somebody stole it at the store to turn into an extension cord. After using the cord from my Legend II to establish it was otherwise 100 percent functional, I ordered a replacement cord for a bit more than I paid for the vacuum. While ironic, the turnkey cost of the machine was still a bargain.

Totally agree Edgar, it is a sweet spot in their production at least in my thinking and for my situation.
