Using Kirby to spray paint

I have been using two of my Kirbys (a 519 model and a Heritage II to spray paint for years. Filling three spray guns with diluted paint is convenient for me so as to not have to refill the jar so often. This can be very messy and you will need to protect the area with newspapers and plastic drop cloths . I have also used large corregated cardboard sheets as splatter screens. However, it does quite a good job of coverage.

yes i know what you mean i know lots of people with Kirbys who only ever vacuum with there machine while all the accesories stay in the box unused

spray guns

i also have three guns one from a heritage one from the G5 that is our daily driver and the Electrolux z55 which works the best and is so easy to clean afterwards. While having a shower later i contemplated having a spray tan with it regards Anthony

I'm not sure about using a spray gun with a kirby, but I have used a professional automotive HVLP spray gun attached to an air compressor and I dilute the paint with low odor paint thinner. There isn't a set amount of thinner to use, normally I go based on the suggestions of the paint manufacturer, and most of the time, I'm doing like 50:50 on paint/thinner. Like I said, it may not be exactly the same process (I'm thinking this would be more like a Wagner Power Painter system), but it's not too hard to do. Hope that helps some.

P.S. I would recommend practicing on something old before you get too wild with the sprayer, the thinned paint has a tendenancy to run and can ruin your paint job rather quickly!
