Guys, is the adjustment pedal easy to fix/replace? I may buy a 561 with a good original cord for next to nothing... but the adjustment petal is broken. Any advice?? I'm new by the way.

The toe touch adjusters are not hard to replace at all. There are two screws below the axle that hold it in. You just have to find another axle and your set. If that's all that is wrong with it I wouldn't let it stop you from buying it. Hope that helps. And welcome to the site.

Awesome! That's good news. Thanks.

This site is great. I couldn't believe it existed. I thought I was the only one. HA!

If the picture you have on here is of the 561 you are buying, it looks like the part that the small lowering pedal slides up and down in is broken... If this is the case, you will have to replace the whole fan case(as that is part of the fan case) in any case it is pretty easy to replace. Any way If I were you I would grab that 561 up in a hurry... They are a wonderful machine... and my very favorite model of Kirby!! Dan

Hi Joe and Welcome

I use grew up in Wilmington Delaware,my wife and I now live in Tucson AZ. I have rebuilt many kirby's and electrolux's if you are looking for vintage parts or just want good technical help just let me know my email is [email protected]. While living in Delaware I would travel to the Downing town swap meet that is a great place to find vintage kirby's and electrolux's

Welcome Joe & Kirby 561...

I too would like to welcome you to the forum/club.

I tripped over the forum/club so-to-speak, when I was doing some seaches. There are a lot of nice people in the club & a lot of helpful info.

I am in agreement with Dan, (thermokid), regarding the fancase needing to be replaced; if the picture is of the one you are interested in. This is a simple procedure. Any questions welcomed.

I am somewhat limited on any assistance w/ other brands (don't repair or rebuild others); however, with KIRBYs, if there is any way I may be of help, feel free to contact me (email is in my profile). And again, welcome.

Bill
