Just wanted to share one of my recent finds a Kirby 560 in decent condition. After seeing Chad Cunningham’s, Bill Ivins, Fred Nelsons and Charles Lester’s on the forum I knew I wanted one. The sunburst belt lifter is just down right beautiful on this model. I’m also very fortunate to find one with the original bag. I would like to have the original cord, which would be a hard find!

I’ve started some buffing by hand with a combination of mothers and steel wool. I plan on having this one professional buffed sometime in the near future. Including the 560 I now have seven Kirby’s that I plan on keeping.

@kloveland

The part # for the original cord was 192059, and it was grey with red male and female plugs. Closest equivalent to this, other than the tan 192062 cord currently assigned for use with this and all pre-1967 Kirby models, would be the 192076 cord used on the Kirby Classic III since the entire cord is red.

Sweet!

The 560 is my favorite one in my collection. Does yours still have the metal fan? I love the dead mouse story! I once found a 515 that had a rat's nest in the Em-Tor with a few mice still living in it. It scared the dickens out of me when I opened it and the squaters came scampering out!

Metal Fan

The original metal fan is intact and the motor sounds great! This Kirby came from a man in Kansas City who has a storage building full of Kirby's around fifty to sixty. Along with the 560 I took home a 561, Classic and Classic Omega. Chad Cunningham had posted a link a few years back, but he didn't have many responses. Sadly, most of the Kirby's are non-original. The majority of Kirby’s came from estate sales.

The 561 also has the original bag but it’s badly faded. I plan on parting out the Omega and keeping the Classic. When my grandmother married my step-grandfather (really like a grandfather to me) my grandfather had the Classic and she had the Omega. Even though I was still very young I could tell the differences between the two. So the Classic holds some sentimental value to me.

Great Find!

That's a good looking Kirby! I have an all original 560 and had my guy buff it out, and it turned out beautifully! That's my favorite 50's-60's Kirby. If you'd like, you could ship it to me or my guy here in St. Louis to buff, but it might sit a while until he has a few to do. It's a very well spent fifty bucks to have it back looking like a new one! Congrats!

Nice Find, Kenny!

That's a beautiful 560, and the original bag is frosting on the cake! And great job on the polishing!
I was among those who responded to Chad's posting a few years back, and got the nozzle for my 512 and a few attachments for my D-50 from him.
