High shipping

I was quoted $88 and some change. To me Shopgoodwill.com has always been a little high on their shipping, but I’ve also noticed anything shipping to or from the coast area is high. When I got my Model V Electrolux from Charles Lester (in LA), shipping like to have killed us! I also sent a set of hubcaps to California around the same time, and shipping was so high, I ended up giving them away for free AND had to eat some of the shipping cost!

Includes free trash too!

Wow, that's just wrong. I always thought shipping cost would have went down a little since the last gas hike in 08/09 but like everything else it continues to climb.

Oh and another thing I noticed with Shopgoodwill is my last order (a portable photo scanner) I had more weight in recycled cardboard over the item itself. It's like FedEx has a "take our trash" program for designed for GoodWill.

I stopped selling on Ebay due to always eating the shipping cost, couldn't keep up with China on that one.

Keep in mind that Shopgoodwill uses FREIGHT shipping quotes, and they round the weight up because freight shipping has specific weight limits. It is a very archaic website.

Notice it says

Shipping Weight: 85 lbs.
Actual Weight: 22 lbs.

So it actually weighs 22 lbs but they round it up 63 lbs. I guess they have dimensional weight calculations or something and they overcharge it so they can cover their bases for all shipping zones and pocket the profit margin on the shipping cost if it comes out cheaper.

You are better off to find a Goodwill store on eBay for your area, save the seller, or save a search for vacuums, and you will get eMailed when they have new listings.

I just shipped a Kirby 2001 limited edition From Milwaukee Wisconsin to Woodstock Georgia thru the post office. $70.00. Total weight of the box was 44 lb. In the box was the hose, attachments, zip brush, Shampooer and 12 disposable bags, owners manual, owners video and 5 belts. Also a standard hard floor tool. Box arrived in perfect condition. In that price was about $4.50 for $300.00 insurance.

Zones

The shipping you did was from zone 2 or 3 to zone 4. That's why it wasn't absorbinant. I shipped 2 boxes entire rainbow vacuum attachments etc. It cost $85 that's including$1000 insurance. The site gave me 25% discount.
If you live in West coast and ship to East coast it's a killer. I believe a 25% increase for every zone.
You probably packed it well and effective in a box. Most people aren't so bright. I recurved the heritage 2 13 from Virginia. It's zone 4to zone 2. It cost me $62.
I told her exactly how to ship. That way it was cheaper.
You can pack and ship well. Most people can't.
