Last week at an estate sale I found a Kirby 514 in decent shape. I passed on it because it had an F & G conversion bag. I went back the next day to buy an original cloth hose for my restored 509 and original maroon boxes for the tools along with the polishing head. When I rummaged through some boxes I found the original 514 bag! It is in great condition with just a couple of small stains in the back, so I bought the vac knowing how hard it is to find these.

Mike,

That is a wonderful find! And I love that you were able to find the 514's original factory bag!

I even got two more Kirbys myself recently: both of them Classic 1CRs, from Pam (seijun) just down the road from me! One is incomplete (from 1971) and the other that runs (from '72) came with an F&G bag conversion kit, but luckily I still had the Legend II Mini Emtor assembly I'd previously used on my Classic III, and used that on my '72 Classic (in picture 2)... though, one of these days I hope to find an original Classic 1CR bag and Sani Emtor assembly!
