Kirby 2c original cord question

Hey all. Ive got a question regarding what an original kirby 2c cord would have looked like.


The one in question, I believe has round ends, but I thought they were directly wired in?


Also does the duvetyn bag on these open at the top? Would hate to tear the original bag by attempting to take it off the emptor.


What kind of belt should be used with it? Does a standard post 505 belt work ok?

Also, Does anyone know what color the original box would be?

I dont think this ones original. My friend says its brownish if he recalls. Wont see it till tomorrow afternoon.

<span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva; font-size: medium;">The C series Kirbys used what were then-standard "Bryant" plugs, as did many electrical appliances. The attached crappy photo shows two Bryant-style male plugs. The Kirby plugs were black and made of hard rubber. (btw Bryant is still in business.)

<span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva; font-size: medium;">Starting with the 505, Kirby used cords with molded ends made by Belden, originally rubber then vinyl -- again, as did many electrical appliance manufacturers. (Belden cords are still made under the Belden name but the brand was bought a few years ago by a company named Volex, Inc.)

Must be the original cord! Good to know. That means this machine might be 100% original. Cant wait to pick it up today.

The bag top on my 4C does not open.  However, I was very lucky.  The bag is in excellent shape and it was very easy to remove from the Em-Tor.  I had a heck of a time getting it turned inside out, but finally got it done.  My 4C also has a rubber cord.  I'm guessing it is original, because everything else on it seemed to be original when I got it.  How did you come by your 2C?

If it is a closed-top bag and is black, it sure is a rare bird! In fact, I've never seen one!! All the black Kirby bags I've ever seen, all the way back to the Sanitation System and even the non-electric Vacuette models, are open-top with a sliding metal collar. 4C bag

This is what the top of my 4C bag looks like.  It is sewn shut and sewn into the top of it is a metal strip to give the top of the bag stability.  I also think it's a little unusual in that the inside of the bag has a felt lining.

Due to severe thunderstorms I didn't meet up with my friend. We are shooting for tomorrow should the weather hold up (not supposed to unfortunately)

The friend that has it is the one with the 450 vacuums that we trade all the time.

Here is a pic of a Kirby box I have that I believe came out with the C models. I acquired this from Jim Kirby at his storage unit cleanout. Rick Asquith got one just like this also but his is much nicer than mine. The color is a dark cardboard brown with red lettering. I have a Kirby 505 box that is darker in color and it has white lines almost looking like fabric maybe? But I have seen several 505 boxes and this box is definitely different. Does anyone know what model or models this box goes with?
