Inside Information

Normally I don't post anything.. But I wanted to interject here..

My Girlfriend's dad works for TTI Floorcare and has told me that they are the makers of the Blue machines.. Both bagless and bagged..

The white and silver machine is made by some Chinese company... No affiliation with Panasonic..

I may not know much about vacuums.. But I happen to know a bit here...

Went to Sears Today and Saw the Elite Model

Went to my local Sears store today and I saw the new Kenmore Elite Upright, and it was very, very heavy - even heavier than the Intuition models, I would say. I ran it and it was quite the workout to move back and forth, but the motor sounded very different from any of the other Panasonic-based Kenmore machines upright or canister. They still have the blue-green Intuition model marked down to $229, and a white bagless Intuition model for $149.95. Anybody think that they are writing off or preparing for a major overhaul of the Intuition upright line? I noticed that the red intuition upright was still being displayed on the main product shelf, with a price of $269.95. The red Progressive Upright was there for $159.99

Cap - I did say that in reply 14. I did own the blue one we had in the UK at one point and realised by the Vax bagless version that it was TTI. They're terrific bagged uprights though and do a great job without being a chore to push. It's a pity though that the bagged ones had to be assembled rather more than just pushing a handle in and screwing into the back. I recall that I had about 8 to 10 odd screws and had to construct the bag holder and bin assembly as well as constructing half of the back of it that holds the tools in. To say they looked like Toys wasn't half the story! The blue one lacked a HEPA filter whereas the red one featured that, for pet owners.

They also had 32mm sizing tubes and hoses which meant I could raid my Hoover parts bin or Dyson and use an old DC01 dusting brush as no dusting brush came with it as standard. A Bush branded upright was also sold at our Argos stores with a pet hair turbo brush tool. Both the red and the blue cost next to nothing when I had mine and the yellow one was still priced under £50 before Argos stopped selling it late last year.

Vax are missing a trick here not putting out their own bagged upright version. Argos have now stopped selling the bagged upright, the last bagged one went from the blue colour to a rather loud yellow colour.

My old review for mine is given in the link.

I prefer Kenmore's new ones - a proper metal handle for starters. Here's hoping Argos will sell these again with this newer model.

I see there's a silver bagged one with an LED light, too, the CJUBD1.

Sounds like that Kenmore Elite upright might be made by the same company that made some of the Kenmore uprights a few years ago. Phone Mate, possibly was the name? I remember hearing that they were very heavy.

Personally I prefer Panasonic made units.

It is odd to me though, because it does have elements of the design and parts that seem very distinctly Panasonic.
