Kenmore Variable Speed Upright

I find it is difficult to find Kenmore uprights from the 70's and especially the 80's. Found this jem on Craigslist. I don't remember seeing these vacuums back in the day. The lady I bought it from stated she got it in the 70's, but it seems to strike me more of the 80's genre.

Kenmore variable speed?!?

I have seen many 80s Kenmore uprights including a cordwinder model but NEVER with this variable control either in person or in the big catalog.The bag is similar but different from other better KM uprights I have serviced(probably has rubber hanger strap that often breaks).Could this have been sold in limited test market?Or one time only in smaller seasonal catalogs?
(One of few problems if well cared for is carbon brushes 'stuck' in the metal sleeves from dust & grit and no longer touching armature.Easy fix if it ever happens.)

I had the same one

I found it in Kansas City. I kept it for awhile. Mine had bad bearings. It was extremely loud! The bags filled from the top which was a nice feature!
