I'm not sure if they make belts for those anymore, I run Dirt-Devil broom vac belts in mine (which...also aren't made anymore...

). Perhaps try a worn DD handvac belt or something similar? Good luck! Great vacuum!

the original part number for the belts that the 1973-1981 machines ran was 5281. you can still find them on ebay. sears now calls them cb4, but you can only get the from sears parts direct. vac shops are best for finding these in numbers

Congrats!

According to the Sears catalog, that color was called "Sour Apple Green". Yours appears to be a 1976, 1977 model of this canister. There was a earlier 1974, 1975 variation that had a shorter hose, and a Green non detachable painted wand on the power head, unlike your chrome, removable two piece wand. excellent canister! Enjoy it!

Phillip.

You can use a Filter Queen belt, which will work just fine and not put too much stress on the sleeve bearings. A Dirt Devil Can Vac power nozzle belt will also work, but it's slightly smaller than the Filter Queen belt. I have all four examples of the 1970's Sears Best Powermate canisters and I use the Filter Queen belt on them.
