Kenmore throw away bags

I was wondering what kind of bags everyone uses in their Kenmore vacuums?

I'm out of bags for both my Kenmore Progressive canister that uses paper C (5055) or cloth Q, as well as my Kenmore Progressive upright that uses type O cloth bags.

Our Sears store closed so I can't get bags there now, although I never bought anything other than C paper bags there since they were quite expensive.

On eBay I see the type O bags, for a pack of 6 at $14. Just wondering if there was a cheaper option. I prefer to stick with cloth bags.

If there's a non-genuine alternative I'd be open to it. Although I prefer the older HomeCare style bags that have the Kenmore Hepa Cloth logos printed on them over the newer plain white ones. Not that it really matters.

Generics

We run the Generics you find on eBay. I can't tell you whether they are the Envirocare technologies or the DVC brand. These are multi-layer paper bags. Biggest thing to watch for is sometimes the inlet will have a perforated seal. This seal needs to be punched out after you install the bag in the collar as expanding the bag prior to installation can cause ripping. Price is under a dollar a bag in quantities of 10 or more.


 


I'm also seeing good reviews for VEVA branded cloth bags on Amazon, but I haven't personally used them so I can't rate them.

Quality

I've came across and ordered veva brand vacuum bags. There in my opinion as good or better than Kirby HEPA bags. I got type g were 30 bags $30. I know they have lower quantities and there going to be as good as oem bags.
Dvc brand isn't bad another option.

DVC

DVC Bags are made in the US. The ones I have at home are US made, but I can't be 100% certain if they are DVC.  I read that DVC also makes OEM bags for Aerus (formerly known as Electrolux).

I buy my genuine Kenmore Bags from Amazon. They are always much cheaper than Sears sold them and I’ve always received genuine bags. Currently 6 bags are $11 bucks!

I have tried some of the other generic bags, but I prefer to use genuine bags in my Sebo’s, Kenmore’s and Miele vacuums. Just my opinion as there is nothing wrong with generic bags, I just use original, genuine bags in my more expensive vacuums.

I looked on Amazon at the Veva bags. $20 for 30 type O cloth bags or $30 for 20 30 type Q bags, seems like a really good price. I did notice they had limited amounts of the Q bags.

$11 for 6 genuine O bags isn't bad either. I think they were close to $20 when I used to look at Sears. I'd try to get them when they were having a sale but they were still quite expensive so I just used the type C microlined paper bags in my canisters. But when they changed from the yellow to white material it seemed the quality wasn't as good. Rug Doctor's micro bags were almost as good or better than the genuine ones.

I've never bought anything on Amazon, I don't even have an account, but I'll join soon, since there seems to be a lot they offer for good prices.

I really prefer for my upright the older Sears HomeCare bags with the Kenmore swoosh logo and "HEPA Cloth" pattern printed all over them, rather than the plain white bags they sell now with the QR ordering barcode. Just more appropriate to the machine's era. But they're harder to find, and are usually expensive.

Only Ever ran one Cloth Bag

My mom's machine only ever ran one cloth bag (back then it 50557 not 50558 like the Q is now) and that was the one that came with the machine. I know that the cloth bags filter better, but I've personally never owned a machine designed for cloth HEPA bags.

Yeah, my Kenmore Progressive canister would originally have a cloth bag. But I got it used at Sears and somebody had replaced the cloth bag with a yellow paper bag. So I just used paper bags in it, but I'd like to go to cloth.

My Kenmore Progressive upright had a brand new cloth bag in it when I got it at Habitat. But I've filled that bag up and need some more.

Check out veva bags. They will impress.

I would only buy bags from manufactures who makes vacuums for Kenmore like Panasonic, Sebo, Hoover, etc. But I have used Type O bags from Ultra Care that I think are impressive, those were the only aftermarket bags that I would've use even though Ultra Care was exclusively sold through Sears.

Aftermarket Ultracare

Really? I never knew UltraCare was aftermarket. I just thought that was Sears' older branding, since the bags themselves had the Kenmore logo on them, and I never saw any other ones there at the time. I thought they just switched to the white and pink packaging after the blue UltraCare.

Yes, for example

I own some type W bags from Ultra Care that fits on the Professional models that were made by Sebo. They may look like they're genuine bags since they have the Kenmore logos on them but I can easily tell that they're generic. For one, they're made in China. Sebo's genuine bags are made in Germany. Another thing is the bags don't lock onto the bag holder very well. As a matter of fact this Kenmore Professional down below had trouble with it's bag staying in place when you open inside the bag chamber. And they leak far more than the paper bags from Sebo or even some other generic Sebo paper bags from other companies. It's not just these bags but pretty much all of the paper bags that Ultra Care has sold.

Just changed the bag today

I just changed the bag about 15 minutes ago. The bags were are using are the DVC "Micro Lined" yellow bags. For some reason I'm thinking they are a better quality than the old 5055 type.
