Hi (again)!

I popped in a while back with my story of woe. I love my Kenmore bagless machine, but the hose has been in trouble for a while (it's ripped at both ends). I've taken it apart & duct taped it, but that really doesn't help. The REAL problem is that my hose has FOUR wires running through it! All ideas & leads that I got here & elsewhere proved fruitless, but I thought I'd pop back in & ask again.

If anyone knows anything, I'd be most grateful!

About 20 years ago I needed to repair/replace a hose for a late 60's Kenmore canister with power head. I was surprised that I could order a new one from Sears, not surprised at the 48.00 price tag though! No doubt higher now. I have always been happy with this new hose as it is longer and of better quality than the original!The other thing you might look in to is bringing your hose to a good vac. repair shop and see if they can cut the ends(couplings) off and fashion you a new hose, as I did with a model F Electrolux without the pn. Had it done in vinyl back in '92 and it still works great with no leaks. In this case I was going for function over form as this is used as my "down and dirty daily driver" not a restoration by any means. I didn't want to wait around for these hoses to come my way and in '92 I didn't have a pc with internet and Vacuum land at my disposal so this is what I did. A little pricey over a used replacement, but happy just the same. Good luck! Billy Clyde

Well I don't know if I'm repeating anything someone else may have suggested before... but it's just a hose. Can't you take the wires loose at one end, replace the actual hose part, and reconnect the ends and wires? It'll take some finagling, but, I mean, that's the price you pay if you don't want to pay the price for an actual replacement part. Unless a replacement can't be found, in which case you only have the one option, anyway.

Of course, I don't know how the hose is attached to the connectors at either end, so I don't know what challenges you face. pics, maybe?

I'd gladly buy a new hose and pay whatever, but the machine's too old. Part is unavailable. I visited a number of repair shops & no one could help me. I tried any online company suggested, again they couldn't help.

I took the handle apart & (amazingly) got it back together, but I now cannot remove the hose from the canister. I guess I mucked things up. The machine does still work, but I know that dog fur is collecting around both ends where I wrapped the duct tape (I have many corgis).

Honestly, I got lots of great suggestions when I posed my problems a while back, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to try again. I will always find it so odd that a hose with 4 wires in it doesn't exist.
