I recently came across a Kenmore Whispertone 90, that looks similar the Whirlpool Bambi just found by Hans. It takes a No.5010 bag, that was sort of L shaped with a rubber around the opening, and didn't look at all like the 5055's that I am more familiar with. I tried to do a search online for bags, but only found one listing on ebay for n.o.s. bags. Does anyone else have one of these machines, and if so, are new bags available somewhere?

Michael,

I stopped by my giant sized old-timey Ace hardware today on the way home. I happened to be in the vacuum aisle. I saw Kenmore 5011 & 5055's but no 5010's.

Don't suppose that is any help huh?

New Bags Are Not Available

Unfortunately. You'll have to hunt for them on Ebay or in vac stores that have really old stock. Here's my machine that takes them. Won most historical for being one of the first power nozzle machines. Has the power nozzle cord integrated into the hose. If you think that is bad - try to find a revolving brush replacement for this puppy!

Please!!!!

POST PICS OF THE WHISPERTONE!!!!! Absolutely the most advanced vac of its day!!!

Thank you for the info.

I had an inkling that bags for this would be hard to come by, that is one of the reasons that I left this machine behind at the thrift, that and the fact that they wanted $40 for it. I have no photos of it; I will take some photos for you the next time I am able to stop at that store. There is a photo on Doug's website under the Kenmore section, that is where I learned the year of manufacture.

Yes, the power nozzle was there, along with the triangular dusting brush, floor tool, upholstery tool, and maybe the crevice tool as well. Is this a scarce model?

So I'd better make a special trip back for it?

Pops will likely have an embolism if he sees me drag in another cleaner...hmm...
I wonder if I could modify the cardboard mount on No.5055 bags to fit this machine...hmm...but I need the rubber self closing feature of Elux bags...but I'm supposed to be downsizing. UGH!

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING!!!!

FOR ONE FOR OVER 25 YEARS I WOULD HAVE JERKED THEIR ARM OFF,I WILL TRADE YOU ALMOST ANYTHING I HAVE FOR THAT MACHINE!!!!!!!! OR BUY IT SIGHT UNSEEN,BAGS OR NO BAGS!!!

Don't worry, its been saved!

I had my folks pick it up for me, so no worries that it will hit the thrift store dumpster for not selling. I don't have access to the machine right now, but will post pictures when I do.
