Well, yesterday I set-to taking my old Bug-Eye apart to restore it. I found to my consterntion that the fan has a broken blade. I know that I can break the opposite fan to make it run more balanced, but I'd rather get a good one.

I imagine all the "steamlined" upright Kenmores from that era use the same fan. It's in two parts -- the fan itself, then a belt shaft that screw onto the motor shaft after you screw on the fan. I surrrrrrrrrre do hope someone's got one they don't need.

Thx

P.S.: It's times like this that I really hate having had to throw out so much stuff when I moved. I had a whole box of old fans of various types and makes, and out they went. Now that I need one, there's not one to be found. :((

I never would have thrown anything away either, were it not for the fact that a crooked landlord who bought our former apartment building removed all the (locking) doors from the garages, turning all the garages into one long, open carport -- including the two incorporated into our lease as "storage garages," one of which was my workshop. I had no choice but to get rid of stuff because they had taken away my workshop and all my storage.

We found out the hard way that the Los Angeles Housing Dept. -- to whom our tax money goes -- was absolutely ineffectual and powerless to help us in any way. Even with matters incontrovertibly set forth in our lease. "We just set policy; are not a governing body" was their mantra every we filed another complaint. All they do is sit in their cubicles all day twiddling their thumbs and playing computer games.

Then when we were harassed and abused nonstop in their attempt to get us out because our rent was relatively low due to rent control, and we finally made the hard decision to move after 20 years because our health was beginning to suffer under the ongoing stress, I had to throw out even more stuff because I simply had nowhere to put it. I did rent a space at a public storage facility that I was paying almost $200 per month for -- money literally just going down the drain.

No one will know the many tears I sobbed as I had to throw out box after box of parts and many rare machines that I had been accumulating for more than three decades. I tried to GIVE stuff away [not even asking for any money] but no one would come get it.

We did get the last laugh, however: Our apartment sat vacant, un-rented for six months. When they did finally rent it, the rent they got was only a hundred dollars or so above what we were paying -- and after their having spent about $20,000 on "luxury renovations."

"And now, you know the rest of the story" as Paul Harvey used to say.

You might try leaving a message here for Duane Taylor (vacconnection) here on VL. Duane was one of the co-hosts in Milwaukee this year. He and his family have 3 wonderful vacuum stores in the Milwaukee area and has lots of parts, machines, etc. He just may have that fan you need. You might also try Mike Rogers in the Chicago area. I don't know offhand how to get ahold of Mike, though.
