Kenmore floor fan

I came across this interesting fan yesterday. I believe it is a Kenmore model, but a portion of the tag is missing. I worked cleaning it up a bit with just a damp cloth. It was very dirty, but everything looked to be in good condition for the most part, including what looks to be the original cord. It has a 90w Universal Electric motor and the instructions say to oil every 3 months. Wonder if that was done. Haha. Also aluminum fan blades perhaps. One nice thing about this is that the fan looks like it can be completely disassembled.

Can any fan collectors here identify this particular model and perhaps the age? Does the top also serve as a stool?

I would be inclined to think Kenmore as well. Although, like most (or all?) Sears appliances, it was probably manufactured by another company, "For Sears".
It may also double as a foot stool. I've seen similar fans described as "hassock fans".

That is a Kenmore, and the 72. In the model number would identify the manufacturer if anyone had access to those codes.

My guess would be Kisco made it as they made lots of these hassock style fans and often had that perforated metal ring in various patterns.

I would say probably 1940s, maybe early 50s?

And yes these could be used as footstools.

Thanks Cole! Good info to know. I tried it out for a few minutes the other day and it works very well. Is says to use 20 weight oil, but I wonder if 3 in 1 motor oil would also work.

3 in 1 should work, but you’ll need to use the version in the blue bottle, which is formulated for electric motors. It’s a not harder to find than the black bottle, but I’ve found it at Lowe’s.

Nice score - I like these hassock fans.
Yours looks to be from the late 50s-early 60s with its mostly metal construction and grill design.
Yes, these are from an era where they were completely serviceable. 90W is pretty economical.
The advantage of this design is that they suck the cooler air at the floor and distribute it, opposite of what ceiling fans do.

They do double as foot rests like a hassock, but do not sit on them, esp if plastic!

I see yours has a plastic top (that looks just like the one on my early-70's Toastmaster unit I got last year.
My ladyfriend sat on it and it did not sound too sturdy. I had polished the top with plastic polish during its resto and she ended up sliding off of it anyway, discouraging her from doing that again...
