Haven't seen that one yet interesting.

I have the preceeding red Progressive. I must say I like the dusting brush on yours and the Elite better than the horseshoe shaped one on mine. Mine is horsehair too but bulky to fit in small spots like shelves or the car dashboard edges. If I used mine more often I might buy the other brush. I agree the floorbrush could be bigger but I like the swivel and the felt pads it has to keep from scratching floors. The crevice tool leaks air from the slots on the sides.

I'm surprised your wand lights don't come on without the Power Mate attached. My wand and handle look the same and mine do come on without it attached if it's set to carpet. I don't adjust my wand anymore because on the first one the connection inside broke when I slid it out. It was still under warranty then so they replaced it but I don't want to break it again out of warranty!

Does the canister hose end swivel any more? The connection on this and the Elite looks like they changed from the 1984 style end.

Mine was made in Mexico but some newer Kenmore uprights seem to be Chinese made.

kenmore 700 and 800 series

So, made it to a Sears today and checked out the Kenmore vacuums. I'm not sure how many vacuums are in each series, but the 700 and 800 were there, from what I could tell, they looked similar and reminded me somewhat of my Panasonic mc-cg902. The big deal breaker for me with these is the size of the hose end. It's kind of square, similar to the Electrolux hose end, but a bit larger. There is no adapter that I know of that would allow you to use standard attachments with these, and even the power connector for the power head is nonstandard, the prongs on the connector are spread much farther apart. There was also a bagless model there, not sure of the model, but it did have a standard hose end. One model was on clearance, not sure which one it was, but it said crossover on it. Anyway, was wondering how many canisters are in each series and the difference between the 700 and 800 series.

As far as I know there are 4 models in this series. This 700 Series Kenmore Elite, the 800 series. The only difference I can see with these two is the power nozzle. The 800 series has the Crossover Powermate with removable floor brush and dirt sensor, whereas this one doesn't. The 800 series is the replacement for the blue Intuition Crossover model. The 700 may be the replacement for the Progressive red model, but I'm not sure because the Progressive has the dirt sensor and this does not.

Apart from that, there are two other bagless canisters in the series. One is the purple one you mention that has a standard older-style metal hose end. This is the 600 series and is basically the exact Panasonic version with different colors and the Kenmore name.

The last is the 200 series, which is also the same as the Panasonic version. This one is variable speed, and has a cute little Powermate that looks like it could be German. This one has very tiny attachments that require an adapter however.

I also see a red and black bagless canister on their website but I haven't seen it in the store nor do I know if it is part of this series.
