Recently picked some vacuums up that were given to me for free. I am going to do them up and sell one of them on as still want an upright at home. I just find an upright more convenient than the henry that is the daily driver as the henry all drops apart when I get it out of the cupboard. All the extensions fall apart as do any connected floor tools. So its back to an upright for me.

The dyson DC07 after inspection currently has a broken bin latch so the bottom just falls out along with any contents and doesnt seal properly when in place (this is cracked also) - can use sticky tape to keep it closed in the mean time but also it needs a new baseplate. The electrolux the boss lite is in good nick after a cleanup, only the tools missing but these can be picked up cheap on ebay I am sure. Crevice tool and stairs tool missing off the DC07.

Managed to get the parts I need on ebay for £15 for the DC07 but once I had done them up was gonna sell them on eBay however as I have now decided to keep one of them but not sure which. This is my first Dyson and to be honest I find the use of the hose on it very clumsy by having to dismantle it each and every time and not being able to use my Rugrat that I bought for the kirby once as there is no connecting piece to connect the tool with the dyson. This worked fine on the Henry despite being clean air and rotating much faster! In the Dyson it goes wild! Most of my house is wooden floors so it seems to do good on them with just carpet on the landing and the rugs in the kitchens bedrooms and lounge.

Having used both the dyson seems to clean cat litter from the wooden floors better whereas "the boss" flicks a lot of it out the back of itself after chewing it up and spitting it out. Dyson doesnt groom the rugs as well however and the boss seems to have better suction at the cleaning head. All the filters have been cleaned and suction is very good on the hose.

Advice please... thoughts much appreciated.

the DC07 dont need bags, all you need to do is empty it when full, and wash one filter 2X a year, not hard, We have a DC07 too and its nice to see what it picks up, its yellow and grey, more modern than the boss, amazing suction, does the job, imagine how it could clean in the car! buy it a turbo brush, and see how over the top it goes, I prefer the DC07, it was also the last Dyson model to be made in the UK, so your lucky there :)

BTW HEnry falls apart? really? My Cousin's and Auntie's Henry never do that, and other Aunty's too, they all have different Henrys, one from about a decade ago, one from approx 2006 and one is an Eco Henry, I like henry though, My parents need to get one as a cylinder is preferred that is durable, powerful and can cope a 5 bedroomed terraced house with 1 teenager, 2 kids, 1 toddler, 8 adults and a baby, so we need a good vac, Dyson is perfect for me, but too "uprighty" and we need to use the hose all the time, and its just not very practical

Yeah tayyab if, like Richard does, you keep Henry in the cupboard, then you can't keep all the tubes connected. So, when you pull Henry out then all the tubes/attatcmentd fall out behind it

If I'm right in thinking the electrolux is bag less then I would stick with the Dyson. You will require much less maintenance and the dyson shouldn't clog like the boss does. The dyson is just a whole different machine to the boss.
With the hose , just press the button and use it like a dc04. I does not hurt the machine and causes less stress to the hose as its not being stretched on top of the wand. It's easier if you just want it to clean and quickly.

No worries Dave it's cheap bits to replace and will get it running like new.

I do kind of want to keep the Dyson as like u guys say its true bagless the boss filters were filthy whereas the Dyson wasn't so bad.

Yes Henry's tubes fall apart when removing from cupboard forever bending down to pick them all up. Does my head in same when putting away.

Oh Richard, I thought you were saying Henry's motor unit or "hat" comes off :P lol
and when you service the DC07, put new seals in the soleplate, you will see a difference,it will lift the carpet like mad

I have to offer devils advocate here by my experience yesterday. After selling on my Miele S2111 to a good friend, she asked if I could get copy bags for it as she didn't like the idea of buying the genuine ones despite my recommendation to stick to Miele genuine parts. Went to a nearby DIY hardware shop who sell copy bags and they do sell Miele synthetic ones but with cardboard collars that can eventually rip. The shop sells a ton of copy bags for almost every brand but the GN copy type were not available and the woman who served me basically said that most buyers are now buying bagless vacuums hence the lack of copy bags for different models.

Personally I think you should keep both BEARING in mind that bagless uprights are probably high commodity products that people would be more interested in buying. Keep the Electrolux Boss Lite for minimal work, use in the car or just a model in your collection. Whatever 32mm/3.2cm tools you do have left, they can be used generally with Electrolux models.

I don't have the space for it it really the Henry is gonna have to go in the shed I don't really collect them. I had to get rid of the sanitaire upright cos there is no space for it so only one space in the house. Henry will go in the shed and Dyson may take its place.

Where can I buy new seals from? I've ordered a 2nd hand sole plate off eBay as this one is cracked and chunk missing.

the boss

those electrolux boss es are aufull my neighbour asked me to look at hers because it was noisy the brush roll endcaps had jammed onto the brush roll causing them to spin in the plastic casing they had completely melted through the main body of the machine the machine tips up when using the tools it is very noisy it throws more dirt out than it picks up .after removing anything usefull we both watched it being devoured by the bin wagon best place for it . My neighbour now has a Hoover turbo that came from oxfam after a good service she is over the moon with it . By the way the motor from the boss is now installed in a Flymo lawnmower where its much more at home

Well I used the boss the other day to vacuum the kitchen where the cat had tipped cat litter everywhere. The brushroll obviously crushes up the cat litter but most of it ended up in the motor prefilter!!

So think the dyson is going to be kept after I have got the new parts :)
