Just out of curiostity, how rare would it be to find a pre-1940 vacuum at a thrift shop? Just wonderin.

In my area.......

thrift store are more likely to have dilapitaded Dirt Devil's and Bissell's. I have been running into Fantom's lately.

Anything pre- 1970 would more than likely be found in an antique store, rather than the thrift stores.

I'm sure this is may be a territorial thing as well. I'm the Western Suburbs of Chicago.

I think vintagecanister may be right in that the venue could hold the key. By that, I mean old, long established and conservative states, where folks hold on to things. Examples: PA, VA, New England States, etc. I've had good luck junking in these areas - hope this may help you.

Thanks for your help, guys. I have been looking at thrift stores a lot for vacuums, and i havnt found anything made before 1950. Although i did find a mid-60's hoover convertible, ut it was a POC so i ddnt get it.
