use rubbing and polishing compound for painted and plastic polishing. it can also be used on metal. its much more inclusive and better results. i use turtle wax rubbing compound and turtle wax polishing compound from oreillys or any auto store. polish/cut with terry cloth, buff with microfiber rags. i veered away from mothers years ago. in my opinion it doesnt do the job very well.
i wetsand discolored plastic and aluminum, polshing corrosion doesnt get it rid of it.
After a week of waiting, the headlight bulb showed up today and I just swapped it in. Although I was following the instruction pamphlet that came with the machine, I was getting a little nervous prying the headlight lens out, especially when the tabs looked white. I thought I was straining the plastic to the breaking point but once I got it out, I realized the tabs looked white because they WERE white. The surround was painted green to match the metal hood.
At this point, I'm going call this project complete. Just thought I'd document the occasion with a couple of photos.
I'd snap that cleaner up in a New York minute. I have the brandy wine version of yours and a friend has the 15"wide ESP version. They keep going and going like the EverReady Bunny. For what they are it's hard to beat the value per dollar of these machines. I'm glad you got this instead of some independent cleaning person who would likely run it in to the ground then toss it. Happens around here all the time.
Don't beat yourself up on falling off the wagon, tomorrow is another day and as they say "one day at a time". Hows your fan belt? Had to ask.
The belt appears to be in good shape and I've got plenty of extras when the need arises. That was another plus about this machine; it fit into an existing ecosystem with my two Sanitaires, which use the same belts, bags, etc.
