Definitely up to you!!!
Anything is collectable if you like it!! In time everything becomes collectable!!
20 Years from now a WalMart Bissell PowerForce Bagless upright will be "WOWed" at just for being around.
When Hoover Elites came out in the 1990's era, many people probably never would have thought that machine to become a collectors item. It's so basic at a low price point to consumers and it's mostly plastic and the filtration system is poor.
However, there are many collectors out there that LOVE those machines and wish they were still in production today!! I myself get excited seeing an Elite. Despite the low price point and basic design they were a great performing vacuum, that were easy to service, durable and many of the colors are fantastic!!
If I like the performance, sound and color of a machine I add it to my collection if desired. Many collectors of the younger generation know very little of the vacuums from the 1990's and earlier. They get interested in what is currently on the market like a Hoover Air Bagless.
But all that matters for your personal collection is if you like it and it makes you happy to have it around!! I myself go nuts over Hoover PowerMax and similar canisters. Some others look at them as being lower priced units with not as many features as an Aerus or other brands. But to me they are high performing, pleasant sounding, durable yet easy to service for maintenance, easy to use and I grew up with them. So to me they mean "The World"!
As the old expressions go, "Everyone has their own Cup of Tea" or as my grandmom would say: "That's why they came out with Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry Ice Cream Flavors!"
Enjoy your collection and make it unique to your tastes!!
Here's photos of my Hoover PowerMax units and similar Hoover Windtunnel canister that are in my collection!
