Hello,

I have seen two different Electrolux floor/rug tools with the ivory and tan colors like the tan Model G. However, one has the tan on the floor side, and the other has the tan on the rug side. In addition, the former seems to have a darker tan than the latter. Both have gleaner switches and tan wand lock tips.

Did one originally belong to the tan Model G and one belong to the tan Model L?

I noticed a similar situation with the teal and ivory floor/rug tools. As far as I know the aqua Model G's and ivory Model L's had the teal on the floor side with ivory on the rug side; and the Model 1205's and teal Model L's had the reverse without a gleaner switch. Another difference is that the former's wand lock tip was ivory, and the latter's was teal.

If you can clarify the tan and ivory tools for me, I'd appreciate it.

Following are pics of each of the tan and ivory versions.

Style "A" (tan Model L?):

Re: Style "B" above ... I just noticed that the wand lock tip is ivory. Now I'm not sure if both had tan wand lock tips or not. I realize that the swivel connector could have gotten switched at some point; or even the wand tip replaced.

The rug

floor tool you have was on the model G. The gleaner is the give away as that was taken off the 1205.Gleaner was meant to help pick up threads as I recall. It was felt it was no longer safe to use due to new carpets coming out.

Electrolux rug/floor

The tan G & L would be same.Reply 2 is from AF.3 is from G/L.The Gleaner was removed during tan G period.Would not have been needed as much with more Power Nozzle use and as with many things some customers would not have used or understood. As above changing carpet styles have also been reason for changes.

Thanks, John and Jimmy, for your responses. I appreciate the information, and now that I take a closer look I see the second color in the "Style A" pics was more gray than tan--which would match it to the Models F and R.

This is a pic of a current Ebay listing. It is all ivory-colored with just a teal brush plate--similar to the 1205 J and 1401 ones that are all ivory with a gold brush plate. I am guessing this one is from the last version of the 1205s? If not, please let me know which machine it originally accompanied.

I believe this floor/rug tool--because of its color pattern--would have originally gone with the Model 1521s from the Grand Marquise to the Ultralux Classic, Model 2100 and Model 1677--Diplomat and Diplomat LX, Model 1623 and Model 1676--Ambassadors, and Model 1718 and Model 1762--Epic 6000 SR and Epic 6500 SR. Admittedly, the plastic has a grayish tone rather than a sand (light beige) tone of the aforementioned machines; although it seems as though that is due to the lighting. At least, I can't think of any cleaners with a gray/blue combination.

I do wonder if this would have been an optional attachment for the plastic tanks as it seems the single-use bare floor tool was reintroduced around that time. It had been replaced with the Model E's new combo tool in 1954--some 40 years earlier; although the white wall brush still used the single-use tool into its last version with the Model 1401/Super J--I happen to have a NIB version of this with the gold brush plate.
