For the past week, i've been getting the basement ready for Owen Perkin's visit too see my collection, and help me put new bearings in Two of my vacuums.

At a mini-meet at Tyler (GsoHoover)'s house, i told Owen about a Hoover 150 Charlie W was selling that I couldnt buy. About a week ago, Owen said to have some money ready when he comes over, he has a surprise!
He sold me this beautiful specimen, a 150!
Thank you SO MUCH, Owen! I've wanted one for 10 PLUS Years!

I definitely saw several machines that I would love to find. The beige Kenmore with the woodgrain top, and rust colored bumper is on the top of my with list. The Grey Kenmore under the chair to the left of the aforementioned one. The beautiful Hoover dimension. The slate green, and blue are my favorites. I saw a couple of very nice late 90's powerdrives. Really great collection there.
I have known him since he was a pup. He suggested I swap out my MD Silent Master S5 at Tarantula Arms for a high-end Filtex which he provided so that I could take the Silent Master with me. It is now installed at Tarantula Arms West in Palm Springs. Thanks again Owen. And, of course, you are welcome to visit here anytime.
Just had Tarantula Arms West converted to solar power by Sun Power. The installers were intrigued by the central vac in the garage. They had never seen one before. Going green and saving a bunch on money on Southern California Edison bills (should zero out.) Not bad for having a swimming pool and central air here in Palm Springs. The Silent Master is 30 amps, and the sun will be powering it now. I'll just have to vacuum while the sun is out!
Does the Filtex require 30A@120V?The Silentmaster i have uses 15A-strong enough for me.I don't use it as a "Central" vac-have in my hallway-use the 35Ft hoses with it.And use my Kirby Avalir as a "powernozzle"Works Great-The Kirby guy was flattered!!He says it would make it easier to sell Kirbys to folks with central vacuums.Sometimes see Filtexes out my way-will try to grab one if it endws up in the MD dealers trade in pile.Like the two motors! The dealer here has spare motors for these.
The Filtex was hooked up to a 120V 30 amp circuit. That is a bit unusual. Optimal setup at that amperage would be 240V which would be more efficient. Not sure why they did it that way (as well as the Silent Master which is closer to 120V and 30 amps). It needs a special circuit no matter what. Here are the specs on the Filtex as well as the plug and outlet.
The central vac dealer here has the 30A 120V outlet replaced with a 220-240V 15A one.Actually cheaper to wire.15A @ 240V will give the same power-smaller guage cables. The vacuums can be ordered for 240V.Better option.Does your place have two 120V 30A circuits-one for the Filtex, other for the Silentmaster?
