Christmas came a bit early in the form of another shipment of old English machines from Al last Friday. This was the big job that I took on today. A Goblin model 702 from the late 1960s-early 1970s. Major cleaning and repair was in order as the before and after pictures show. Now I need to find the parts for it. Anyone have any spares?

So here's the before pics.

Very well done on the restoration. I must tell you that these cleaners were available in the UK until the late 1970's. Interestingly, they were at the top-end of the price scale, indeed in one Which? report it was the most expensive cleaner on test, even more that the Electrolux 100 which was offering quite a bit more for the money.

However, I should also add that the price of Goblin cleaners was often higher in the Which? report than it was in the shops. Either way, despite the long production run of the 702, it was never a popular cleaner here. You will find that for some very strange reason the motor in this cleaner is a by-pass type, the sort we only ever need in a wet & dry cleaner. Very odd.

Hi Benny

Yep I had noticed it was a bypass motor. Wonder why they did that? The two emblems on the sides are actually the grills for the cooling fan. LOL now if the parts would only turn up on ebay.
