So as I’ve said before, my daily workhorse is a Rainbow E2 single speed. This has the PN2E.

Well a D4SE with the PN2 popped up for $25 on Facebook marketplace locally, and I was drunk, so I ubered it out there and bought it.

I cleaned out the motor/fans/housing/yatta yatta. I also overhauled the power nozzle. Now it’s happily going to a friend who rents a house from me.

Now, here’s the big thing, you CANNOT use an original PN2 on hard floors because there are no front wheels. But on that note, because there are no wheels, that PN2 seems to groom and clean the rugs MUCH better compared to the PN2E with front height adjustment.

How’s that for such a small thing that makes a big difference.

The E2 canister itself seems more powerful, but I really like the original PN2. To the point that I may Frankenstein one for the E2.

Interestingly, Rexair stated in the owner's manual for both the D4SE as well as the E series, that the power nozzle was not for use on bare floors. Rexair takes pride in their wonderful bare floor brush and expects their customers to use it on floor and hard surfaces.

I also think that due to the narrow air path behind the brush roller which optimizes pick up on carpets, would make bare floor cleaning with the nozzle (even without the brush running) difficult at best.

I personally wouldn’t use a PN on bare floors either. That and I really love the new bare floor brush which is nice and wide.

My only quibble about bare floor brushes is how clumped up they get with dog hair.
