I've had my Windsor Sensor S12 vacuum since 2023, and while I love that I finally have one in my collection, buying the cheapest one available on Ebay was probably not the wisest choice, and you'll quickly see why...

Now, it's a used commercial vacuum, so obviously it's seen some use and wear on it, but I have reason to believe that its previous owners were very neglectful and abusive towards it. However, I wasn't worried about this at first, as I figured since it was a Sebo, it'd be easy to fix up. However, I didn't realize just how sorry of a state it was in.

-For starters, there are a ton of scuff marks all around the machine, along with parts of it being yellowed. I'm thinking of getting a bottle of Retro-Brite and using it on it, and hoping that will work, but if anybody else has tips on de-yellowing plastic, please let me know. As for the scuff marks, I'm not entirely sure how to deal with them. I just don't want to just apply all kinds of chemicals on the plastic, as I'm worried they could eat away at it. Compared to the other problems, it's pretty minor (but they're still an eyesore on the machine).

-When I first opened up the bag, I found that the previous owners had tore the bag out, leaving the collar in it so the bag door could shut. I'm hoping that they just did this because they didn't want to give me a bag full of dirt, but I unfortunately wouldn't be surprised if they did use it without a bag. in any case, the bag housing and Microfilter were really dirty. I did take a ton of Lysol wipes and used them in there, and it helped a lot, but there's still some spots that I couldn't reach.

-This may or may not be an issue, but the bag door seems to bulge out from the front of the machine. Also, the bag door isn't completely flush with the bag housing. It seals fine to it, but it physically doesn't match up entirely.

-Since I got it, I've been running genuine Sebo HEPA bags and filters, however, I'm starting to doubt their effectiveness in filtration, as I've found that dust still accumulates in the bag housing (though that could be the dust from the previous owner, I can't really tell). Either way, somehow dust has been getting past both the bag and filter and into the motor. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but the bag door release handle also doesn't stay 100% flush with the bag door. Could this mean that the bag is not completely sealing up onto the opening because of that?

-Moving on to the vacuum head, and that's probably where the majority of the problems lie (go figure, since that's where 90% of the electronics are). First of all, the motor doesn't sound the healthiest. I can't really pinpoint what it could be specifically, but I'm guessing the bearings and/or carbons are going bad, or maybe the rust on it has something to do with it. The commutator itself doesn't seem extremely dirty.

-As for the other electrical components in the head, they all seem to work alright, although they have charring sorts around certain connectors and stuff. Is this something I should be concerned about? Do they need replacing?

-When I first opened it up, the inside of it was absolutely filthy. I'm talking caked on dirt and debris, much like the bag housing. However many hours of vacuuming and wiping with Lysol wipes, and it turned out better, but it's still kind of dirty, possibly even more so since I've been using it for a while, then stopped after I heard the motor sounding even worse than before.

Additional problems:

-There's an annoying whistling noise that comes from the neck of the machine.

-A lot of the motor padding in the head is really gross/degraded.

-The machine has a horrible smell when I use it. It's like a mix of dog and rust.

-There's a weird issue where the machine will sometimes run at a lower speed randomly, as if something were blocking up the brushroll. Last I can recall, it didn't do it, but when it has done it before, turning it off and back on seemed to stop it.

These are just the problems I can think of off the top of my head. I'm a little bit unsure of what I need to do to get it working well. I've even considered getting another S12 and using my current one for parts. However, that's kind of a last resort thing. I hope someone here could be of help. I've also considered taking it to a vacuum store that sells/services Sebos. Maybe they could be of help, but I feel as though this is something I should be doing on my own. I'm also worried that they'd use the newer black and yellow replacement parts for it, which I absolutely DO NOT want.

If anybody has any advice, I'd love to hear it.
