Hi there,
I am looking at getting a Hyla EST. However, i see that it has no suction relief valve on the hose or wand. Our carpet is so thick that many power heads just clamp down when the suction is too high (all straight suction heads and powerheads such as the sebo felix). Despite this, I have a kirby avalir which doesn’t clamp down, so I was wondering if anybody has had the same experience with their thick pile carpet and could say whether the Hyla EST is likely to clamp down or move freely?

Many thanks

Just curious have you tried the soft carpet plate for your felix? it adds some bleeder holes so that it can't clamp as much. Part number 2302SC

As for the hyla, despite owning an est, I can't say for sure but the fact that it has no height adjustment or suction relief valve doesn't seem like it would be a good match.

Perfect thank you, i’ll have a look. Just really curious to know if somebody has tried to use one on this type of carpet, because i’d have to import the Hyla and don’t want to go to the trouble if it won’t even work. It’s weird because the felix on lowest suction just about works, but the kirby is fine even on it’s full suction

Sorry to reply again…
I was wondering whether you think there is a way to reduce the suction on the EST? I know you cant do it properly, but im trying to look and see if there’s a way to reduce the air by the suction head or elsewhere? Thing is, I would probably have to drill some small holes, but when I sell it, it would look really bad with tape all over it

Possible via holes

Well wessel werk does make a head with cutouts in it so I mean you could just do something similar, if necessary. The est really isn't too powerful a machine so if you do find it necessary I'd start from the outside adding them one at a time.
