Introduction Love my new Rainbow

John,
I was just thinking how long my belt has lasted on my new Rainbow. I did check it out at about 6 months. I do know the correct belt for the new black machine is slightly smaller and WIDER than the regular Rainbow power nozzle belt.
I did buy a replacement for mine from a local Rainbow dealer and he sold me the old style. It did NOT work. I ordered one from Ken Bashford and he sent me the CORRECT belt.
I did find that on my thickest cut pile carpet ,I open the suction relief just slightly as the new power nozzle has so much more air flow.
I have the same EXACT feeling on my new Miele. I love the looks and build quality but do not like the short hose, cord and those small attachments.
Mine started smelling after only 2 weeks and the bag was only 1/3 full.
I am dealing with a sand problem from new walks and you could tell very quick which machine held the air flow. The Rainbow has less suction but it keeps the air flow so I was getting up a lot more sand.

Rainbow Belt

I ordered extra belts with mine. They have the blue writting on it and are definetely different from the old style power nozzles. Wonder what the difference is with the green one on goodvac's website. Perhaps Rexair has encountered some issues with the belts and are just improving them.

I have not had one problem with my belt that is on my new Rainbow and I have had it over a month now.

Sincerely,

I hope I'm not speaking too soon, but I've had no problems with my belt and have been using it almost daily. One of the things I like best about the new PN is that hair and thread don't seem to get wrapped around but rather sucked right in.

I'm assuming your Onyx Rainbow has the center belt PN? My new Rainbow I just got as a Xmas present has the new side belt PN, which is a poly serpentine grooved "V" belt

Only time will tell since its barely been a week I got the new Onyx Rainbow; I will check the belt in a month when I clean the brush roller

It makes a HUGE difference

in the dust level. A lazy person would NOT want a Rainbow. Even sometimes I dread getting it out, because I know that I'm going to get a workout, but I know I'm not wasting my time either..Lately, I've been using My Shark to vacuum the wall to wall berber, but when I dust the house, I get the rainbow out and connected the 14 foot non electric hose and the dusting brush, and get a ladder out, and dust floor to ceiling...I will grab the floor brush and get the blinds with that, and sometimes even the walls. I can't do this with ANY of my other vacuums...and the smell while cleaning......I can't describe it other than a fresh smell....even with no scent, which I almost always use scent but a few times I haven't....If you dust every nook and cranny, the next day you open the windows and the sun shines through and there's no dust in the beams of light through the windows.

The thing I like is how long this lasts....it takes quite a while for the dust to come back...Growing up, we would dust the house and within a day or two, you could see a layer of dust not long after.

I don't think just sitting your rainbow in the middle of a room on high will achieve this....You literally need to use it to clean all the areas. I didn't think I would use the 14 foot hose much, but I end up using it the most and it's so convenient to just sit the heavy rainbow in the middle of the floor and you don't have to move it around while you're cleaning. I LOVE that.

Well here's something I've noticed while cleaning

when it comes to DUSTING with a vacuum. Think about the electrified hose with the handle grip - put a dusting brush on that and while you're dusting under behind tight corners, the handle gets in my way and it's harder to manage. But with non electric hose which just has the stainless wand and no handle, it's smaller and easier to use while dusting. I've tried dusting just popping the dusting brush on the electric hose but it's not as easy for me..

When I do use my E2 2 speed for cleaning my entire house, if I use the PN, I vacuum the carpets first, put the electric hose and PN away on the storage rack, grab the 14 foot hose and clean everything else from that point on..

If in the future I ever end up getting the new black oynx rainbow, I'm keeping the 14 foot non electric hose, because it will still fit as it has the same connections. Goodvac is where I bought the 14 foot hose.

I use the RainbowMate for vacing the interior of my Chevy Suburban; so I think I will need both the electrified 14ft hose & non-electric 14ft hose for the house

I vacuumed the bedroom carpets with the SE with R-4375C PN & got TONS of dirt; then I went over with the Onyx with side belt PN & had to change the water twice after just vacing that same carpet with the SE

I cant believe how much more powerful the new Onyx is compared to my old SE!
