We have a new member of the household here at Casa Electrolux ... FALYN (pronounced "Fallon"), named after the lady from whom we adopted her.

Neither of us was even thinking of adopting another cat, much less actually going through with it ... but, well, here she is. She's about 10 weeks old and full of spunk!

Falyn is coming out of her shell quite quickly. She is becoming very affectionate and is a real little acrobat -- she will very gracefully leap up to my lap from the floor, and she already loves to sit on my shoulder. We had another cat who also liked to perch up there and would stay there even as I moved around the apartment. I'll TRY not to overdo it with the baby pictures!

Glad you got another cat. I know losing the previous one was hard. I only made it three weeks after losing Havoc back in 2011 (six years ago today, actually) before I got another cat. Lily isn't Havoc but she's very sweet in her own way. She's still getting used to her new roommate Pinot, who came to live with us in November.

I have a friend who has a plaque in her kitchen that reads "Kids are for people who can't have cats!" and I couldn't agree more.

Falyn is a real rascal. Today I went into the bathroom to check on her and I couldn't find her anywhere. I looked high and low, even getting on a ladder and checking the shelf above the cabinet drawers. No sign of her.

I was going nuts! I was sure she was in there; there was no way she could have gotten out. But she had vanished. Then thinking maybe she might have slipped past me when I opened the door and I didn't see her, I went all over the apartment calling her and tapping her food dish with a spoon. No response -- she was just nowhere to be found.

I finally had to leave to go to work. When Arlee got home he also looked for her and couldn't find her. Then when he went into the bathroom again he heard a scrabbling sound behind the sink.

We have a pedestal-type sink in the bathroom. The pedestal is hollow and the back side of it facing the wall has a large opening in it. And that's where she had hidden. I sealed the opening with duct tape. Let's see what hiding place she'll find next.
