Turns out these are already for sale on the Dyson UK site. £449 for the Animal, or £499 for the Absolute... maybe it's just me, but I think half a grand might be just a tiny bit too much for a rechargeable stick vac. That said, the current models are already very expensive for what they are, and Dyson have never had any problem shifting those.
The bin emptying mechanism looks to be an improvement, particularly the self-scraping shroud. It does appear though that the attachment locking clips are an entirely new system, with the latches now positioned on the tools themselves. The current setup can be bypassed using an aftermarket adaptor, so no doubt this is something Dyson are keen to stay one step ahead of. Trouble is, it will most likely find its way onto the rest of the Dyson lineup at some point in the future, a trick they have already pulled a couple of times in the past. If they don't offer an adaptor to get round this, people will be pissed off to find their £20 dusting brushes and £45 turbo brushes won't fit their new Dyson.
