Noticed this statement concerning storing the hose. The last sentence....seems like storing it like that puts stress on the one part that hangs from the clamp...the whole weight of the hose hangs on that point.

Singer

You are right, they are wrong. But this is much better than leaving connected to wands and letting hose hang at handle end. When new the hose hanger and good attachments in caddy would have been very nice features for this lower priced vac.
I think this model was a Henry Dreyfus design after he left Hoover and worked for Singer in the 60s.Anyone know more??

In the pictured example they provide, this thicker, stiffer
older type of hose uses its end attachments as "feet"
resting on the floor, and helping take the weight off the hose.
The hose doesn't seem to "hang" from the wall hook, the hook
merely keeps the hose standing upright on its own.

Guys....

Jimmy,

I figured it was a lower price, but I LOVE this vacuum. Making repairs to the attachment caddy and washing the attachments.

Frank,

now that you mention it, it does look like that. The gray hose is wire reinforced, nylon net, vinyl covered. Splitting at both ends caused me to unscrew, cut, then screw the hose back into the handle and machine end. Warm soapy water removed the stickiness, dried it, then applied baby oil. I let that set then wiped drier. Thank goodness it was not stiff.

A long long time ago...

Back in the 70's I had a new Kirby, and hated having to change the head to use the attachments..soo..I went to Sears and bought the cheapest canister/tank vacuum and it was the above model only with the Kenmore name on it. It was an orangy color as I remember. It had a metal wand end on the hose and metal wands with plastic attachments..I loved it for what is was!
