Westinghouse Cannisters
I've got a turquoise model SC-1 myself. Wish I had an instruction book for it. Think it was the first of the Carousel models, but I'm not sure. Think it was built in the mid to late 50's.
I actually worked at the Mansfield, OH Westinghouse plant for about 5 months in 1977. At one time, the whole line of Westinghouse appliances were made there, but by the time I worked there, they only built washers, dryers, and ranges, and had become part of White Consolidated, whose original product was the White Sewing Machine.
I do know more about the Westinghouse Company in general than I do about the vacuums. It was a good place to work when I was there and even better in the 30's-50's. Way back in the day they had their own sports teams, band, glee club, and theatrical organization, and used to have concerts, dances, and shows in a grand ballroom on the 4th floor of (I think) the H building. They had a company store where employees could buy products at about half off retail, so a lot of homes in Mansfield and the surrounding area were "Westinghouse homes," as was my Aunt & Uncle's home that my SC-1 came from.
