So I recently got a Sebo X1.1(as some people already know) and I don't know anything about them. So can anyone give me any info on it please? Such as when it was launched etc.

A thread of my Sebo will come soon it's currently in pieces and drying :P

Many thanks in advance!

Also - Thanks Sebo-fan for telling me how to date them 😊

No worries, just ask

The X1.1 was released in 1999 as a redesigned X1 Automatic upright, also alongside the X4.

However the X1.1 remains a UK special edition model since Germany and a few other markets don't get the 1150 watt motor version. The X4 featured 1300 watts like the Felix before the EU law.

Originally the X1.1 didn't have a dust brush as standard or the extra long hose, hence why the X4 usually had the "Extra" name added to it.

A red X1.1 was also released as a special for Euronics stores.

The newer X4 series has 1100 watts and there is no current X1.1 any more.

Thank you. :)

I would of asked you but I didn't want to bother you anymore than I already have.

Also ~ Mine's dated as August 2011.

Sebo started in 1977 as a commercial floorcare company. Their first vacuum, the 350, was the first vacuum ever to feature a clutched drive belt system and, more significantly, the first upright ever with an on board hose.

Throughout the 80's, Sebo became the biggest selling provider of commercial vacuums in the world. Both The White House and Buckingham Palace use Sebo commercial vacuums.

In 1991, Sebo branched into the domestic market with the X1, taking the performance and build quality of a commercial machine in a smaller unit with features aimed at the domestic market. Because they come from a commercial background, the X series were designed to be repaired at home. The machine can be dismantled without a screwdriver to clear blockages, the brushroll can be removed from the side and the hose and handle are clipped on rather the screwed on.

The X1 ran until late 1999. As Nar said, the X1.1 and X4 Extra were launched as replacements. These added slightly higher wattage, extension hoses and turbo brushes, which were becoming popular at the time. The X1.1 is the entry level model at 1150w with 2 dusting tools. The X4 Extra had a 1300w motor, 3 dusting tools and the full stair extension hose, although all the tools will fit the X1.1. and are available from the Sebo website.

Here's one of my favourite Sebo videos. I remember watching this when the X1.1 and X4 were launched. It's very informative.

Also, Nar, the X1.1 is still on sale with an 1100w motor.

Let us know how you get on with it, Emma. They're very solid, reliable and efficient cleaner. Some people aren't a fan of the automatic height adjustment but I love it. Give the house a clean and then have a nosey in the bag and see what you've picked up. Speaking of bags, the new fleece style ultra bags are brilliant - you can really pack them full with very little suction loss if at all.

One of my favorite SEBO videos too Chris, shame there not on the website or an updated version.

Emma great to see you have got a SEBO X series I'm sure you will love it. Look forward to seeing what you think of it. Like Chris says the new Fleece bags are fab. You can really fill them still amazes me every time I change my Felix bag it's like removing a brick!!

So all the Eco X series have the same motor just choose between the models with the extras which you can get from SEBO anyway!

I take it there not much in performance/suction from 1300 to 1100 watts. I'm only asking as I reviewer on Amazon UK on the X4 Pet Eco says it's not as powerful as her old one now it has 1100 watts! Wouldn't have thought there much noticeable difference!?

Well since there is no noticeable suction difference between the 1300w X4 and 1150w X1.1, I suspect that that particular reviewer was talking nonsense.

Thank you everyone for all the info :)

I ordered a service box on Friday and it's arrived today (which surprised me!)that came with the fleece bags.

It's almost reassembled now. I'll give my full view on it after a using it as my daily driver for a week.

I will do a full thread showing the restoring soon.

That's what I thought but I thought I'd ask our resident SEBO X series owners who I know would put that record straight!

Emma did you order from SEBO UK or somewhere else for the service box?

Look forward to the thread.

I've learnt quite a lot from sebo_fan and Turbo500 about SEBO over time amongst others too. Thanks to them I've become even more of a SEBO fan. Still learning too!

Well, not quite "nonsense" of suction power

The thing about the X series is that they were never sold on high power, so it doesn't really matter whether one person thinks suction power is lower than the current EU law ones. That's their opinion.

But I must side with that member on Amazon UK whoever they are. Even though I don't own the new EU year released 1100 watt X1.1's or X4's, I did have the previous 1300 watt X4.

I notice that between my old X1A and the X4s I had, there is a slightly stronger pull with the 1300 watt motor versions. Not necessarily on carpet cleaning performance ALONE but suction power in general. SEBO have addressed this half way with the synthetic dust bags now, replacing the older paper ones which don't seem to allow for constant suction as much.

And the other reason that I side with that Amazon UK reviewer is simply because my Ensign SM2 has an 1100 watt motor. The bigger floor head is great but the suction power on it isn't as strong as the X4. When I changed from paper bag to synthetic dust bag, I did notice a degree of better suction power. but I still think the SM2 has lower suction in general than my old X4 with the newer bags fitted.

Just in case anyone is interested, my Sebo is all reassembled and is purring away. Unfortunately it's too late to properly use it but my sister is coming around in the morning so its going to get a good workout!

Thread should follow hopefully tonight.
