Info on old eureka hose

I have tried to get a 1930's royal vacuum from a gentleman in Pennsylvania. He is trying to break down vacuum to ship. That was a couple months ago. He emailed me recently asking if I was interested in a eureka hose in original box unused. It looks like my 505 kirby vacuum hose same material. He sent pics but i have not received yet as he is mailing tomorrow. Any info on the hose would be appreciated. I don't collect eurekas so knowledge is limited. I just know unused 70 year old hoses are rare. Thanks in advance.

Well idk, but I bet the hose caddy box thingy is more rare than anything else.

Of course, rare doesn't always equal valuable. No idea what it's worth.

I have those attachments and the upright they go to!

My model 250 is dated 1955. The attachments actually belonged to David Watters, but the matching machine was not present. So they came with me to go with mine.

Wow...if those attachments are unused, that is a rare find!

The method of hose connection here always fascinated me: somehow, the metal hose converter slides around the belt without the need for removing the belt. But does the converter also raise the front end of the vacuum off the floor? I somehow remember Consumer Reports commenting that they did not like this tool configuration as it could potentially damage bare floors. The set-up was changed for the subsequent model 260 Super Automatic with the inclusion of a Bottom Plate to cover the brush opening.

actually yes...

That early converter did lift the front of the machine off the floor. There us a little mechanism on the back side of the converter so it presses down on the center belt gaurd on the cleaner, so that then acts like a kick stand so to speak. Its actually a alot like the Convertible converter, just backwards.

Ah...now I understand. I guess, kind of like the Hoover converter, it was not able to “grab” all the suction coming out of the fan chamber. Just a certain percentage, since the suction is still leaking out through the brush “window.”

Im going to get hose next week. I would sell it to someone who can use it. I just know old unused hoses are rare and I didn't want it thrown away.
