info on a royal upright

So, visiting some friends this week for Thanksgiving, and I managed to get some information on the vacuums that the hotel I'm staying at uses. It's made by Royal, the person I asked about them was able to find what we think is the model number, it says RY6100
They are uprights, bagless, and they do have a hose that you can pull out when needed. From what I am told they are very hard to steer. The motor sounds like it might be two stage, or at least a larger one stage motor based on the pitch. Has anyone heard of this machine and if so, what do you think? I would never have one of these, they are bagless and uprights, I much prefer canisters instead, still, I'm very curious about what information I can gather about all machines, even if I don't prefer to use them.

Ok, that explains it. I guess the hotel is too cheap to purchase something like a Sebo or a Windsor, actually I think the Windsors are rebranded Sebos. The carpet is fairly thick so if they were to use backpacks, they would need to use a power nozzle with them, I don't think straight suction would suffice. I felt the suction from the hose of one of them, it wasn't that good.

Also...

The filter is right in the middle of the collection bin. If this is constantly used in a commercial environment, that filter is going to need some serious cleaning (which I doubt they get). A relative of mine had the Dirt Devil version of that machine, it really was awful.

We had someone trade one of those in due to it's weight, They are hefty, will clog rapidly, and a lot of the plastic feels flimsy. It'd be a horrible choice for a commercial machine.

From what I'm told by several employees here, these machines do not steer well either, they have a hard time going straight, they either want to go left or right, but making them stay straight is difficult. I've seen several posts on here about how much everyone likes the royal uprights, but it sounds like these machines are not real royals and are not near the quality of a real royal.

I will second the METAL Royal upright shown!!!GREAT vacuum for either home or commercial use-esp in a hotel.Most of the "commercial" vacuums are merely plastic DUMPSTER vacs with 3 wire commercial cords-the CORD is better than the vacuum!

Mike, Windsors are built by Sebo. Very good machines, and very tough to kill.

The Windsor is actually the commercial version of a Sebo.The Windsors are not usually sold for home use.The Windsors are sold from dealers and suppliers to commercial users.Have seen these machines-many get beat up badly-and like any other commercial vacuum cleaner in that condition they are replaced with new machines.

I seen a pile of Windsors in this government auction. It's up to $200, maybe a vacuum collector bidding war?
