In the market for a commercial carpet cleaner

Id say the Rinse N Vac MBU2 as it has a PN agitator brush. The Rinse N VacRV85 is an older design,( i remember using them in the 1970s) but thats a good thing,,its also very reliable. And evidently works VERY well because they have been making it for so long.

I would also recommend, before rinsing and extracting with any machine, shampooo with the Kirby Shampoo System,Using the Kirby Carpet Shampoo,(after pre-spotting if necessary) working the suds in very well with the machine until they disappear, and then go over again and again.
This attracts the dirt to the suds.
THEN rinse, with the Rinse N vac, using a small amount of lemon juice in the water to neutalize the Kirby suds.(and freshen the carpet)
Extract very thoroughly with the Rinse N Vac.
This rids the carpet of the dirt, and spent suds.
Dry completly, raise the nap by machine (the Kirby with floor polisher brush attached, or the Electrolux Pro with Nap Lifters) if necessary,(if there is a deep nap and the carpet fibers are compacted) and then vacuum with your vac of choice (mine would be the Kirby).
You will have the cleanest, freshest, best smelling and best looking carpet possible!

i'm happy with my Thermax cp3 but it's a back killer for me and I find I'm not using it as much. I'm thinking about a Rug Dr or the Bissell like rug Dr. thing. The cp3 is wonderful and I have the power nozzle with it but it's work to use.

You may want to consider a high powered extractor with commercial duty wands, strong PSI and high water lift. There are many companies out there. But if you want commericial grade I think you'd be looking at something similar to this. Some of these units have power of a Truck mount cleaning unit which in my opinion is the best thing out there.

Erik, I recommend a upright over a canister. An upright is much easier to use. They aren't near as hard on your back either. With that being said, I recommend the Rug Doctor Mighty Pro/Hoover Commercial SpinScrub C3820 SteamVac/Hoover F5914 SpinScrub SteamVac. I have the Rug Doctor Mighty Pro and the Hoover F5914 SpinScrub SteamVac. Both machines do a excellent job of shampooing carpets/rugs/stairways/furniture/car interiors. I hope this helps. Rob

This is how I shampoo carpets/rugs: I move all of the furniture out of the room. I vacuum thoroughly with one of my Kirby's. I then shampoo with the Rug Doctor or the Hoover. I let the carpet dry for 24 hours. I vacuum again with one of my Kirby's. I then move the furniture back into the room. I follow directions exactly on the shampoo bottle for the correct amount to use. I don't rinse the carpet. It is not necessary to rinse the carpet if you follow the directions on the shampoo bottle for the correct amount to use.

I had the rug doctor mighty pro, it turned my carpet gray! I folowed the instructions carefully. Maybe mine was broken? But I don't ever want to see one again.

Erik, I also recommend the Koblenz carpet shampooer floor polisher/Kenmore carpet shampooer floor polisher/Aerus Electrolux carpet shampooer floor polisher/TriStar carpet shampooer floor polisher/Von Schrader carpet shampooer/Kirby vacuum cleaner with the carpet shampooer attachment. I also have the Kenmore carpet shampooer floor polisher and the Kirby vacuum cleaner with the carpet shampooer attachment. Both machines do a excellent job of shampooing carpets/rugs.

get the rinse n vac i have one,dont get the rug doctor canister cause its too much fussing around with emptying it. i also have a mighty pro rug doctor and it cleans well but its a back breaker.

Erik, If you must have a canister carpet shampooer, I recommend the Rainbow vacuum cleaner with the carpet shampooer attachment/Thermax AF vacuum cleaner with the carpet shampooer attachment/Bissell Big Green canister carpet shampooer. Canisters are much harder on your back than uprights. I have a bad back and arthritis.

I also have the Bissell Big Green canister carpet shampooer. This is the same machine that Mary Ellen Pinkham used to sell in the 1990s. It does a excellent job of shampooing carpets/rugs/stairways/furniture/car interiors.

Not to mention, the Rinse N Vac MBU-2 with PB850 power brush was the machine my parents used to rent back in the 1980s & 1990s. Or they used the RV-85 Rinsenvac (also equipped with PB850 power brush) So the Rinsenvacs bring me memories.

Rinsenvac models MBU-2 vs. RV-85

Whatever happened to Blue Lustre/Rinsenvac? When I logged on to rinsenvac.com, it took me to rugdoctor.com; but Rug Doctor website didn't mention anything about Rinsenvac.

The Rinsenvac RV-85 resembles a Thermax CP-3; & costs $379.00; $100.00 more than the MBU-2, but I wonder if I should've bought the RV-85 instead of the MBU-2?

The GOOD thing about those Rinsenvac units is both models include the PB-850 powerbrush.

I'm not sure if the Rinsenvac with PB-850 power brush cleans forward & reverse or does it deep clean only on reverse stroke?

Do the Rinsenvac machines heat the water like the Thermax? Are the Rinsenvac PB-850 & Thermax PB-3 power brushes interchangeable? All I can remember is the Thermax PB-3 brush is vibrating like Rug Doctor V-10 powerbrush; & the Rinsenvac PB-850 has a brush roller like a regular vacuum PN.

Erik, Rug Doctor bought Blue Lustre/RinseNVac in 1996. I miss Blue Lustre/RinseNVac!

the powerbrush on the thermax and rinsenvac can be interchanged. some pb850 did heat the water but not the mbu-1 and 2 i used to have the mbu-1 but now i have a two,i like the one a bit better cause it seems like it holds more water and you can see the water enter the machine as it is sucked up,other than that it even sounds the same.
