This afternoon I decided to vacuum out our Chrysler minivan to get rid of all of the sand from this past winter.  Well, I used my Hoover Model 68 Convertible to do the floor mats with and WOW.  I never realized there was that much schmutz in them.  I couldn't believe how nice they looked when I finished.  I also used my Grandma Baumann's old Premier canister vacuum for all the nooks and crannies, and it too did a great job for its age.

Vintage vacuums rock!

Vacuuming the floor mats with a beater brush really helps. I usually use one of my Kenmore Power Mates to do mine after cleaning the car. I'd like to find something to do the carpet in the car as well. My shop vac seems to be best for that. The Kenmore Power Mate Juniors seem to just throw the sand everywhere.

With a minivan I would be tempted to remove the seats or fold them down if you have stowing seats and vacuum the carpet in the van with the Convertible also!

Cole,

I did fold the seats down and used the Convertible to do the carpeting.  That too really impressed me as to how much crud it sucked up.  I will definitely be doing this regularly from now on.
